It’s fitting this experimental pale ale was the first beer brewed at our Portland Pub. This XPA gets its bitter twist from Nugget, and Northern Brewer hops, then delivers a pronounced citrus kick from Cascade, Centennial and Citra hops. Consider this your next hop obsession.

22 oz bomber bought from "lifesource" in Salem OR. $3.69 Pours a clear orange hued ale with a good sized frothy cream coloured head. Nice enough hoppy aromas here. Floral and some citrius..goodish caramel malt backing. Taste si sweeter than first imagined..like sweet clementines. Nice bitter hop in the back of the mouth balances it somewhat but not all the way. Mouth feel is medium but i think the sweetness is a tad overdone and becomes a little cloying but not enought to make this a bad experience. OK APA..would drink again if offered

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Clean light amber color with creamy head. The aroma offers a good amount of PNW hops, and very nice cereals; smooth and dry mouthfeel; the malt flavor is a bit grainy, the hops provide some citrus quality, and strong bitterness, possibly too much bitterness in the final.

Many years ago, when it was created, this would have been a top beer in the category; nowadays one would expect a different Pale Ale. But it’s still a very good beer, clean and well brewed.

Experimental Pale Drink of the night for Cannery Row Beer Club. Cheers! This had a nice palate for a Pale Ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Crescent Moon 4-2-15. Was on nitro. Clear amber with very persistent white head. Smelled like dirty socks with a bit of light fruit. Light fruit and vanilla in taste with moderate bitterness. A little earthiness.

Fruity hop aroma: Melon, tangerine... passion fruit or something? Bitter, and sweet malt aroma. Melon, citrus fruity hop flavor. Sweet, subtle biscuit malt. Moderate bitterness.

Not bad but not too good. As others have said, aroma is not pleasant, I get wet cardboard and metal. Taste is a little citrus with a bready finish.

22oz bottle from the state store
Pours clear dark golden with a medium sized off-white head, good lacing. Aroma not pleasant, onions, sharp citrus and wet towel. Taste of citrus, floral, bready and bitter orange peel
A strange beer, not bad but not very good either. I don’t want another one.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. The aroma is off to me, notes of sweaty feet and candied fruit. The flavor is citrusy, floral, fruity, soft bready maltiness. This is a tasty beer, just do not smell it.

Bomber. clear honey gold with a lot of carbonation floating up. A steady two plus finger head is off white. A classic west coast hop forward aroma plus crackers. A very nice complex fruit flavor. Just a hint of grapefruit with more citrus and tropical varieties. Really nice. Some cinnamon spices. Some experiments result in good beer.

22 oz bomber shared, purchased at Tipsy’s. Smooth and moderately bitter with notes of citrus hops, floral notes, light herbs, tropical fruits and light zest. Pretty tasty.
