COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s fitting this experimental pale ale was the first beer brewed at our Portland Pub. This XPA gets its bitter twist from Nugget, and Northern Brewer hops, then delivers a pronounced citrus kick from Cascade, Centennial and Citra hops. Consider this your next hop obsession.

I think this may be a new beer from Deschutes. It was just okay. It could have tasted much better, but in the end it was just alright.

Pours clear copper, relatively sustained frothy white head. Slight resin aroma, a hint of moss. Lots of flavor... starts pine resin, evolves into a tropical profile, with trace of sweetness, with a long dry finish. Palate is particularly nice, having a rich texture at the center. Enjoyable, straightforward, some notable flavor combinations, no complaints,

Draft at Portland brewpub. pour is nearly clear amber with a medium white head. Aroma and flavor are cookie malt and pine hops with some light resinous notes. Light bready finish with some lingering floral hop character. clean. drinkable. not too exciting but nothing wrong with it.

phaleslu (9255) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 11, 2016
Draft at the Growler Bar at Kroger-Oakley, served in a flight. Pours a mostly clear orange gold with a small white head that settles into a ring and an island of film while lacing the glass. Notes of grass, pine, citrus, floral zest, caramel malts, and wood shavings. Light-bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a mostly clean mouthfeel despite some light sweetness, medium bitterness, and a little spice. Nicely rounded APA.

"Experimental pale ale with Citra hops" on tap at the Deschutes brewpub in Bend. Clear copper body with a very good head. Mild aroma of sweet malts and earthy hops. Mildly bitter. Near medium body and lively carbonation.

Bottle pour - dark, slightly opaque copper...one finger head that settles into a mottled film - heavy lacing. Aroma is surprisingly mild, to the point that I’m worried my senses are dulled from something - citrus hops are evident, and a bit of resiny bitterness - some sweet malt - not bad, just want a bit more. Flavor is kind of muted as well, more malty than most IPA/APAs (especially from this neck of the woods) - bitterness on the end of the taste. Medium bodied, ample carbonation. A quencher, and an easy drinking one...would happily quaff another, but wouldn’t likely seek this out again.

italianjohn (2848) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 3, 2016
Pale copper with a thin soapy white head and sticky lacing ..... Aroma is light and of citrusy hops, earthy and granit malts ... taste is of sweet caramel malts, earthy hops, lemony and citrusy bite with a grainy malt backbone .... Has a light bitter hop bite that lingers into a citrusy lemony bitterness .... Solid easy drinking pale ale

Draft. Pours orange-amber with thick off-white head and lacing. Nose of fresh citrus hops with earthy notes. Fresh earth and some pine with cracker and honey notes. Pleasant citrus, especially grapefruit, hop bitterness in the finish. Refreshing but a thin mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Odd, I was expecting a whole bunch lot more out of this. Aroma was like stinky feet. Great appearance with a long lasting head and lots of lace. Bittersweet, but not much hope flavor.
