On tap at the Bond st pub. I hesitated to try this one (not usually an ESB fan). Glad I tried it! Pours cloudy orange with a small white foamy head. Nothing offensive and everything is well balanced and smooth with a slight bitter finish. I could drink these all day.

Pours from the tap at Deschutes Public House. Deep orange color is clear with a creamy foam. Some hop aromas with caramel. Light mouthfeel with small carbonation bubbles. Good malty base that is balanced well. Finishes neutral.

On tap at the Portland location (amazingly, this was in the database, somehow the do tons of one-offs at Deschutes. Man, I would get 100 ratings a year from this place if I was local). Pours a light amber color with a medium white head. A crisp nose of hops and dry leaves. A rich flavor of caramel and some bitter hops. Very fresh and clean. Tasty.

Tap at Portland location - quite a traditional bitter - semi-dry, straddles the line between Biscuity and doughy - earthy hop flavor but low bitterness - light buttery notes - mild hard water, mineral character - easy drinking.

Clear amber color, small off-white head. Flowery, ryeish, English hoppy aroma. Light to medium bodied. Lemon zesty, flowery hoppyness. Late bitterness. Quite English it is and ok beer.

Vertical Bacon Strips (1700) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 8, 2011
Part of the 9hr epic solo drunkfest in Portland in Nov, 2010. Pint. Has beer colour. Also has a good tan cap and lots of spots. This didn’t smell to me much like an English bitter but still smells good. Fruitiness, nectarines, granny smith apples, bready and caramelly, biscuit and more random fruit. In Portland girls seem to only wear toques and scarves when they are carrying Internet fat. Good fruity taste yet it is fairly plain. Light spice, herbal hints and lots of caramel. Chewy.

Aroma is weak but inviting, appearance is average, taste is too weak, a better aftertaste, being from Deschutes this is below what it should be

Slight bready, grainy aroma with faint hops. Crystal clear dark copper with thick, foamy lasting head. Nice lacing. Malt springs forth, trailed by a caramelly sweetness that is barely detectable. Slight floral hops on the finish with good bitterness. A tad heavy for a bitter, but crisp and refreshing.

[2995-20100627] Cask. Bread crumb grains aroma has light fruity notes. Clear, bright red orange body with a quick foamy white head. Subtle bitter grain toasted yeast flavour has an English hops profile. Medium body is smooth. Nothing wowy but quite pleasant this night.
