It has a very good malt profile that balances out well with some hop bitterness. I could detect alot of caramel in the flavor. The aftertaste is creamy with a sticky sweetness to it. These guys seem to make some pretty good session beers. CaptainCougar (5420), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2004 Pours a clear pale copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma is lightly caramely sweet with a hint of hops. Good malty toffee flavors abound and smooth out toward the finish. A nice fresh tasting and drinkable ESB. Thanks to harlequinn for bringing this to the Georgia 14% gathering! IndianaRed (1555), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 10, 2004 Bottle Pours with a very nice creamy head and a carmel/copper color. Dont detect much more than hopps and malt in the aroma. Nice semi dark roasted, malty flavor. Bitter hopps is definately ther but seems quite mellow and smooth. Finish is sharp and a shight biter/pucker stays with you for a min. 3 letter styles are usually not my favorite, but this is good. Mike is right "..you can’t go wrong..." with Deschutes. mikebeertaster (96), vancouver, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2004 I like my bitters to be a little more bitter. Another good beer on the market from Deschutes. They make a quality beer. Even though they may not have the best beer in any single class I think overall you can’t go wrong with anything from their menu hopdog (5552), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2004 Poured a hazy medium amber color with a large off white head. Malty/hoppy aroma. Balanced sweet/bitter taste. I would have preferred a little more of a bitter bite, other than that, a decent beer that went down easy. wunderbier (1267), Tampere, Finland
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2004 Caramel, nutty malt (M); floral hops (M); honey, brown sugar aroma. Deep gold-brown body. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a moderately bitter lightly acidic finish. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: super tasty session.
