CultHero (16), Vancouver, Washington, USA Jun 22, 2007 The ESB style was nailed here but nothing about it stood out above other ESBs. A good quality but overall average beer. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Jun 20, 2007 Best By 8/1/07. The beer pours to a watery amber colored body with a lasting foamy phone-book paper white (faded gray). The aroma is weedy and bitter. Seemingly dusty. The flavor is malty with butterscotch and grassy hops. Spicy English hops and multi-grain bread. The palate is medium bodied and mouth watering. A drying palate. Spicy and well carbonated, but overall, ho-hum. Crit (2399), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada May 4, 2007 Updated: Jun 18, 2007Opaque brown with lasting tan head.Faintly fruity malty nose.Choc malt taste with mild hop end.Balanced. Similar to Bachelor bitter, but seems more nutty EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Apr 29, 2007 Bottle. Nose of herbal hops, caramel, malt, and light funk with some grain. Certainly smells English. Clear orange-amber with a luscious and lacing creamy beige head. Medium bitterness with a lightly crisp mf. Caramel and faint dry fruit, body is medium-full and dry, woody aftertaste is bone-dry. Biscuit and sweaty funk with some oily earth and backgrounded gritty hops. Excellent balance with significant complexity and a robust taste, definitely closer to an IPA. High praise. Thanks, Jake! slugstout (18), Zig Zag, Oregon, USA Apr 29, 2007 (12 oz. bottle)
Traditional Deschutes dry-hopped ale. Mild citrus notes with a clean, dry finish. Light copper color with medium to light head retention.
Will get it again. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Apr 28, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a fluffy, lacy off-white head. Light aroma of citrus and earthy hops. Light body and medium carbonation. Some caramel, nuts, and just a touch of fruit in the taste. Dry pine finish. The bitterness accumulates on the back of my tongue as I finish the bottle. greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Apr 13, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a medium orange hue with a big head that dissipates quickly. Flavor and aroma of citrus and floral hops. Slight caramel malt backbone. Nice hop sting on the back of the tongue. Refreshing! fakepurseninja (773), Washington, USA Feb 24, 2007 Pretty hoppy with a pronounced citrus essence. Balanced okay - malt comes through but is subdued by the hops bitterness - which is not all that great because it makes it gives it a little too much tart. Drinkable but overall a little too vanilla, it is very much an ESB.
