It’s hard to make a nice solid ESB, and I think Deschutes has done an admirable job. Amber glow, big malt body, but a nice West Coast hoppy dimension too. Rock solid and well worth it. 11026 (1772), Alabama, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2006 Tap, 4oz sample. Tasty ESB. Pours copper colored and clear. A great off-white head forms and leaves good lacing in its wake. Floral and citric hop aroma. Medium bodied. Pleasant hop bitterness, perhaps a bit overdone per style, but it works. A touch soapy? Pleasant. jake65 (1760), Williston, North Dakota, USA

Smells of citrus and hops, tastes of the same with malts and some floral tones. Smooth to drink with a pleasant hops finish. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium white head. The aroma is nice; loads of rich malts, some bananas, just loads of sweet malts. The flavor is similar; a huge malt presence, caramel and sweeter flavors. Loads of malt and light hops. Enjoyable. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2006 From a hop embossed shaped brown bottle with a blurb on both the neck and front labels with a best before date, 06/28/06.
Made a good appearance, poured a slightly hazy lightly tarnished copper with a foamy beige head that settled into a thin bubbly lacing, minimal amount of sticking, moderate ESB carbonation.
Had a tasty nose of caramelized and biscuity malts with a light floral and herbal hops, a little fruity as well.
A chewy, crisp and malty smooth medium bodied mouthfeel, good drinkability.
Nice sweet toasty taste, caramelized and grainy with a good biscuity, a smooth, light herbal hoppiness, soft in it’s bitterness, a touch of fruitiness emerges in the middle and a dry toasted caramel and grainy finish.
Balanced and tasty ESB from Deschutes, I found this to be very enjoyable.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 10, 2004 Bottle Pours with a very nice creamy head and a carmel/copper color. Dont detect much more than hopps and malt in the aroma. Nice semi dark roasted, malty flavor. Bitter hopps is definately ther but seems quite mellow and smooth. Finish is sharp and a shight biter/pucker stays with you for a min. 3 letter styles are usually not my favorite, but this is good. Mike is right "..you can’t go wrong..." with Deschutes.
