Quillaraymi (88), USA Sep 3, 2005 Deliciosa...casi perfectaaaaaaa. Luce como modelo de comercial, el sabor amargo es el punto perfecto para disfrutar, el aroma complementa toda la experiencia. Salud con gusto! Wulfstan (509), California, USA Feb 26, 2008 This is a nice, tasty yet smooth and balanced example of an American ESB. It is red-copper with a smallish but long-lasting off-white head that leaves a little lace. The aroma is nice blend of sweet caramelly-toasty grain, hops of grapefruit and other citrus with hints of pine, flowers, and earth. The taste is similar, with a nice balance of sweet and bitter, malty, caramelly body and cirtus-flowery hops. It’s smooth and easy yot drink yet vey tasty. It’s simialr to Lagunitas Cesnoed but better - stronger and more balanced. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Jun 29, 2000 Very good cask bitter Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Apr 15, 2005 Bottle. Amber color with a rich head, producing a nice lace throughout the glass. Mellow hops and taosty malts dominate the nose. The first tatse lets me know I’m drinking a world class ESB. Silky smooth on the sweet side with bisciuty malts, and roasted grains. An awesdome use of the hops makes this my favorite ESB. Just freakin fantastic. Pours a cloudy amber with a great head and beautiful lace.
Smells of wonderful EKG hops.
The taste is very understated. EKG hops, sure. The malt is nice and fruity. I don't understand why good beers of this style aren't more popular; I like it far better than American hefs.
Mouthfeel is very full. It has a nice mineraly feel to it like a true bitter should.
Drinkability is very high. The taste, as I said, is subtle and the alcohol content is low enough that I could easily spend an evening drinking these.
Another awesome offering by Deschutes.
AmazonMatt (284), Panama Aug 23, 2005 Updated: Mar 15, 2006Wow. I just found my favorite beer to date. Pours a copper color with an eggshell colored head that lasts through several sips and leaves some nice lacing...
There is something about the yeast and hops that Deschutes uses that I love. The yeast provides a bit of iced tea and banana hints. Compared to the IPA and PA, this beer has more of the hops --- a mix it appears of the English and Cascade hops, and as a consequence has a longer mouthfeel and aftertaste. Very nice; though it is a slow and serious beer rather than a slammer. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 27, 2004 Bright copper color with a tall slightly rocky light tan head with sheets of lace. Absolutely one of the most balanced aromas I have had in many o’ brews. Seamless mingling between english malt, fresh green hops and yeasty bread. Light sweet start which leads to lightly stewed fruit and pale malt. Finish is rich and malt laden. Firm and lightly oily feel. A touch too sweet as it warms, but I like malt and balance, and this one has a lot of both. Kaya161 (1129), San Diego, California, USA Jul 23, 2001 Piney, earthy hop aroma. Nice copper colour. Toasted, biscuit malt flavour, slightly fruity. Nice interpretation.
