Deschutes’ first India Red Ale is built on a malt bill that "bailed out" the malt room. With a big body, we decided to balance the flavor with "bales" of high alpha hops. We used Magnum, Nugget, and Bravos in the kettle, then dry-hopped with Citras. Cheers to another DB first!

On tap @ the brewpub in Bend. Lovely deep red-orange colour, with an off-white head that laces thickly. Beautiful aroma of lush tropical fruit, guava in particular. Beuatifully fresh hoppy palate, tons of passionfruit and guava, sweet underlying caramel malts, long dry bitter finish. Fantastic.
