COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With a dark beer as our first and flagship brand, Black Butte defined Deschutes as a radical player. A slight hop bitterness up front enhances the distinctive chocolate and roasted finish. It’s prized for its creamy mouthfeel and intense complex flavors.

On tap at Wolfgang Puck’s at the MGM Grand casino. Black body with yellow and red hues and a light brown head. Sweet chocolate and malt aroma. Smooth cocoa taste with notes of caramel and toffee. Medium-bodied, with a slightly watery mouthfeel. Clean finish with a slight coffee aftertaste.

Deep black with a full caramelized head. The taste is smooth chocolate malts, caramelizeed sugars, and a rich smoky whisky finish.

On tap at New York Casino. First, they use plastic cups, but this beer was still damn good. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. The taste is mostly coffee and chocolate upfront, and some heavy roasted malts throughout. A really good beer, it excelled even though the cup sucked.

Aroma is light with a wine like roasted malt scent. Color is a deep dark amber/black with good carbonation and a tan head that is fairly tight. Taste is thin and tart. It starts with a light/medium body that goes down crisp. Finish is a thin roasted flavor with a bit of sweet that turns quickly to a tart feel. I just don’t like it, its weak for a Porter and the sour doesn’t fit.

Thanks to Ginny for this one. Black body with a sand colored head. Bubbles coat the glass. Very sweet aroma with chocolate, light licorice in the background and a smoky roast quality. Subtle but full flavor. Delicate but not watery. Mostly chocolate, slight cola, and a bit of smoke in the finish. The texture is like silk. This is a great beer.

355 ml bottle. Dark mahogany red body, close to black with a medium beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, liquorices and hint of chocolate. Flavor is smooth coffee, roasted malt and traces of vanilla. Almost extremely smooth and balanced, just delicious.

Bottle. Black to brown pour with tan head. Good aroma, classic flavor, good body. An almost perfect imitation of the classic porter.
