Dark and malty, with a roasted character just as a robust porter should have. When served ice cold, the true flavor of this beer doesnít come through - serve it lightly chilled and the aroma and flavor really stand out.
I donít always drink porter, but when I do, I prefer Black Butte. Even though Iím not the most interesting man in the world.

Bottle. Very dark brown/amber, some powdery light brown sediment, creamy tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasty, cereal, caramel, black cherry. Creamy and smooth. A balanced bitterness on the front with a sweet body. Some boozy, whiskey undertones. Altogether complex and delicious.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2013 Dark color. Black. Foamy and heady. Chocolate aroma and taste. Almost but not quite sweet. Just enough balance to negate it. A classic porter and a breath of fresh air

Amazing flavors without too forceful of a roast aftertaste. Only knock is that the carbonation might be slightly too much for my taste.

Kind of watery for a porter but has a real nice balance of nut and sweet taste

Pours coffee black with a huge chocolate, malty, roast aroma, followed by a deep, intense malt base, with just the right amount of bitterness to frame all the flavors.

My first Deschutes and still one of my favorites. Its chocolatey, roasted character and hop tinge are spot on.
