Severely disappointed. Looked and tasted like a cola. Too thin for my liking with no head. Chocolate was too lite in both aroma and taste. Deschutes is a great brewery so I hold their releases to a high standard. They can do better than this.

Jul 1, 2008 Sweet earthy aroma. Plum, cherry, mild chocolate, coffee, and toffee notes. Smoky roasted malts.
Flavors of mocha, root vegetable, mild nutty + carmelly roasted malts. Gets slightly bitter in finish, hint of hops.
Big Malty palate, dry finish. Creamy palate.

Jun 29, 2008 Pours a light chocolate amber with thick than head. Aroma is nutty, roasted malts, and chocolate notes. Espresso and rich coffee undertones. Body is medium.

Jun 22, 2008 A world class porter. A strong coffee and chocolate aroma with a faint hint of hops in the background. Pour was a nice deep dark brown with a one finger tan head. Taste was heavy on the coffee and chocolate. Strong bitter coffee and roasted malt in the aftertaste. Very full flavored and well done.

Jun 19, 2008 Thanks to brewdad for the bottle. Poured an opaque black into the glass. Smell was bittersweet chocolate. Taste had lots of chocolate as well, nice balancing bitterness, creamy, and a touch of coffee. Really nice example of the style.
