Oct 15, 2008 Bottle at beer exposed thanks to Phil_l. An imperial/strong porter, my first since the new style invented itself. Big roasty burnt beast of a thing. Not very tasty. Infact one dimentional and boring.

Pours big and black with a light brown head. The aroma offers up hints of chocolate, coffee, cocoa and licorice all things good in this world. Oak and bourbon rears it’s head in the finish. Paired with a big scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Will sample one every year till its gone!

Oct 13, 2008 Tasted 10/13/08. 22oz bomber. Pitch with an opaque hue and beige spotty ring of head. Big nose. Hints of cocoa, raisins and vanilla. Anise, dark chocolate and a touch pepper. Mild coffee aromas with an undertone of brownies. Full bodied with sweet inital malts, then a tingling effervescence mixed with bitter coffee acidity. Finishes sticky with a decent amount of woody alcohol burn. Lotta chocolate upfront, with a surprise citrus blast showing up in the middle of the palate. The Bourbon and the barrel aging shines brightest towards the end of the palate and definitely lingers in the finish. Great malts, solid complexity and flavors, Coffee and chocolate mixed with anise and citrus. Woody vanilla barrel notes smoothing out the high gravity and lingering Bourbon qualities. True sipper! Totally quality!

Oct 13, 2008 Draught at the Freakin’ Frog, Las Vegas
Black color, with generous brown creamy head. Strange brew, with flavors of coffee, medicines, liquorice, but all together rather interesting. The body is quite strong and with some sweetness; the final quite balanced and without the ashtray feeling of many Imperial Stouts. Pleasant.

Oct 12, 2008 bottles GABF 2008 & Skyview. Well, this was clearly a porter. Huge coffee aroma with massive hops ht to it. A body light enough despite the alcohol to remind me what it’s supposed to be. Faint oak and well balanced bourbon - barely perceptible in fact.

Oct 12, 2008 Another great beer shared by Yobdoog. Almost black in color with a light brown head. Aroma of strong chocolate, burnt/roasted grain, molasses, oak, and mild bourbon. The flavors are really well integrated, strong coffee, roast (more of the black patent than roasted barley), molasses, body is full for an imperial porter, with touches of wood and very mild bourbon. Finishes bitter with lingering coffee, hints of fruit with a touch of alcohol and some light hop bitterness. Thanks Trevor!

Oct 11, 2008 22 oz. Pours opaque deep brown. Looks like espresso and tastes like espresso, with molasses, oak and bourbon. Heavy, slick body with a bourbon finish that burns (in a good way).

Oct 11, 2008 Pours black with a creamy brown head, Pleasant chocolate, vanilla, leather, caramel aroma. Big smooth body. Flavors of coffee, cocoa and vanilla. Has a nice acrid edge. Relatively low but lingering bitterness and mellow hop flavor. Quite good overall but a touch disjointed.
