COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
XXIV. 24 years after Black Butte Porter’s debut, our potent, layered, imperial tribute returns. As usual, it’s a jazz riff, guided by the brewer’s muse and the lure of exotic ingredients. Artisanal dark chocolate nibs. Daglet dates. Mission figs. It may, possibly, hopefully, be the best edition yet. But, as it should be, you’ll be the judge of that.

Pretty nice porter. A bit of a rock candy type flavor which i guess is from the light fruitiness with the malt. No roastiness at all and very well hidden alcohol.

(bottle) clear very dark brown with a tall brown head; aromas of citrus, lychees; rich complex flavour with a long medium bitter finish, excellent

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Pours a viscous dark brown with a thin, khaki colored head of foam. Aroma has dark chocolates and dark fruits. The dark chocolate is intensely bitter. Lots of layers of roasty bitter flavors going on here.

Refrigerated brown bomber with black wax poured into a snifter. Pours black with large dark brown highlights. Little lacing, medium body, well carbonated, and anise aroma. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, some soy sauce, hint of alcohol, and herbal hops.

Sampled from bottle @ ZZT VI. Opaque pitch black color, full sized good lacing beige to light brown head. Aroma of malts, fruitiness, red fruits, alcohol. Taste malts, red fruits, alcohol, some roastyness, some sweetness. Lightly disappointing overall. Good beer, but it could be better.

Bottle thanks to Bruce at his 30th. It pours near black with small light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toffee, Scottish tablet, alcohol, burnt caramel, molasses, chocolate, brown sugar and Christmas pudding. The taste is rich-roasted malt, cooking chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, date, alcohol warmth, toast, burnt notes and some decent bitterness. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Pretty tasty, warming and well rounded. Nice in small measures.

Bottle at thirdeye11’s birthday party. The beer pours a black color with a brown head. The aroma has a lot of cinnamon, as well as some nice vanilla notes. The flavor is similar with some added notes. I get a lot of roasted malt and chocolate, as well as some vanilla. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium mouthfeel. Very nice.
