Tap: Dark brown with a small tan head. Choco-malt, alcohol, and mild nuts. Sweet flavors of bitter chocolate and definitely alcohol. Thin body but it leaves a thick film on the tongue. Quite tasty.

Molasses aroma. Espresso black with tan head and lacing for days. The first sip is a flavor explosion of coffee, chocolate, molasses, honey. Very slight bitterness at the finish. This is an amazing beer.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Cherry, dark fruits, roasted malt, chocolate, and slight hint of cream soda on the nose. Thick black pour, with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly. The figs really come through on the pallette, with a rich, sweet onset, which blends into a chocolatey bitter finish. As it warms up to room temperature, the bitter, chocolate flavours come to the fore. Satisfying pallette, very slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Overall, an incredible beer, easily the best porter I have yet tasted, and on a par with the best dark beers around.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours nearly opaque black with a one-ish finger brown head that dissipated pretty quickly and left thin, whispy lacing.
Nose is dark bakerís chocolate, figs, plums, burnt and roasted malts, a little earthiness.
Tastes like a RIS more so than a porter, at least to me. Tons of cocoa and unsweetened dark bakerís chocolate. Not very much sweetness at all. Fruity flavors, all dark, figs, dates, prunes, and maybe some molasses and brown sugar. Very strong burnt and roasted malt flavors. Perhaps a little bit of burn from the alcohol, reminiscent of bourbon. Hop bitterness on the finish is more than expected.
Body is very thick and chewy, followed by a warming and a burnt malt, syrupy molasses finish. Carbonation is pretty light.
Very complex and delicious. Not something Iíd like to drink everyday, but good for an afternoon of chilling out on an unseasonably cold October day.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap. Pours opaque dark brown with a medium brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves great lacing. Aroma is dark roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, and a bit of vanilla. Flavor about the same, plus kahlua, molasses, and dried fruit. Medium sweet, lightly bitter and quite alcoholic in the warming finish. Full bodied and creamy. Complexity and nuances come out as it warms.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Served on-tap at the Austin Flying Saucer.
Appearance: Dark, opaque black. Thin beige head that settled quickly.
Aroma: Dark chocolate, dark fruits, roasted coffee-like malts.
Taste: Dark chocolate, cocoa. Figs come out more clearly. Roasted malts give espresso-like flavor. Slight hop bitterness appears as well. Alcohol bite is noticeable.
Palate: Thick, creamy, and viscous.
Overall: As I was unable to only buy 1 bottle, I was really glad to be able to sample this fresh on tap. Iím really looking forward to see what a year of cellaring does to this one. Extremely enjoyable fresh, though.

22 ounce thanks to beerandfishin. Big roasty pour. Taste is total chocolate. Some fine bitterness. The figs had a touch of sweet to the roast. Really tasty. A big beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark black with a tanned head. Nose of caramel and some darker notes. Heavy dark notes of roasted dark coffee, chocolate. Intense, with a thick mouth feel, and some alcohol taste. Not bad, but a bit intense for me.
