COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
XXIV. 24 years after Black Butte Porter’s debut, our potent, layered, imperial tribute returns. As usual, it’s a jazz riff, guided by the brewer’s muse and the lure of exotic ingredients. Artisanal dark chocolate nibs. Daglet dates. Mission figs. It may, possibly, hopefully, be the best edition yet. But, as it should be, you’ll be the judge of that.

Poured from a bottle into a stem glass, it pours black in color with a tan head, aroma is chocolate, malt and a fruity sweetness, the taste is chocolate, sweet, roasty malt and fruity palate is smooth, this is just a a great beer.

Pours black with a tan foam that dies down to just lacings on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, raisins, and figs. This has a big dark fruit taste with a definite black malt bitterness. Full bodied with an unsweetened aftertaste. Alcohol does not dry the palate but compliments that flavor profile. Don’t know if this is the best edition yet, but I’ll keep a bottle for next year and see.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has figs, dates, chocolate, some hebal/vegetal notes. Taste is semi-sweet and quite bitter with more vegetal notes. I’m not diggin’ this but I would like to see how it ages.

Deep obsidian black. Carmel cream head. Amazing nose rich in coffee, chocolate, plum. Smooth lusish mouth feel, light on the tongue, easy to drink. Yumm.

This was absolutely fantastic. Dark and thick and chewy and without the coffee notes of the other versions. Definitely my favorite. Had on tap at Khoury’s. Will probably have to go buy a full bottle. The figs and dates, though not distinguishable individually to me, made for a tasty beer.

Dark, dark pour w/ thin brown head. Big aromas of prunes, figs, coffee & creamy chocolate. Sweet flavors upfront of figs, brown sugar & dark cherries, followed closely by bitter espresso, dark chocolate & roast. The sweet & bitter notes inter-mingle wonderfully! Great brew.

(22oz bomber) clear espresso brown, ring of fine tan bubbles. Nose of milk chocolate, vanilla, oats, graham cracker, fairly Rich and creamy. Light alcohol. Taste of alcohol, light chocolate, light roast, a bit too sweet perhaps but good in general. Needs a bit of time.

Bottle at Papago. Man this years is great! Nearly black pour with a brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, some sweet cherry notes, vanilla, licorice, toasted marshmallow and roast. Flavor is sweet and rich, full bodies, some serious roasted marshmallow and dark bitter chocolate..now wheres the graham cracker!

Very pretty too look at- a deep, deep black with a dark khaki head. Nose of burnt malt. Surprisingly smooth palate. Alcohol well hidden.

Dark brown pour... Aroma is chocolate malts and caramel... Flavor is absurdly good, hint of hops upfront but mouthfeel is thick and layered with dark chocolates, figs, dates, caramel, bourbon oak... Delicious
