COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
XXIV. 24 years after Black Butte Porter’s debut, our potent, layered, imperial tribute returns. As usual, it’s a jazz riff, guided by the brewer’s muse and the lure of exotic ingredients. Artisanal dark chocolate nibs. Daglet dates. Mission figs. It may, possibly, hopefully, be the best edition yet. But, as it should be, you’ll be the judge of that.

on tap at PDX pub Black ale with a transient mocha quilt atop the oil. With swirl the foam makes an appearance. The nose on this bitch does not disappoint: vanilla, cocoa, dates with figs less so, hint of sweet alcohol with whiskey notations - a rich nose. Flavor carries the cocoa as a baseline for me, layered with light cafe, sweet booze (not as hot as the nose), the dates carry through and the finish accents the figs. The body is silky, full and warming. The breath back is full and sensual. I would put this inside me again, and I will. Serving type: on-tap 08-09-2012

22oz bottle shared thanks to Lukaduke! Pours dark brown-black. Nose is fruity roasty chocolate, dark cherry, fig, plum. Taste is more of the same with a nice finish of dark fruit and roast coffee, malt. A touch boozy but still pretty nice.

Actually drank a Deschutes beer after the best after date ! Pours a deep burnt umber with a finger of khaki foam. The nose is burnt sugar, molasses, dark fruit and chocolate syrup. The palate is slick and a bit oily with lots of burnt chocolate notes, salty taffy, roasted date and some prune notes too. Pretty complex but not as tasty as the flavor profile leads you to believe.

Bomber pours a dark brown/black with a small tan head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, and licorice. Taste of dark chocolate the sweetness with the dates and figs is licorice like and almost minty. Well balanced smooth and very tasty!

A 1.5" creamy smooth medium khaki head settles to a solid whispy ring and thin islands over a black to deep mahogany body, the glass sporting thin delicate confetti lace all around

Well integrated components inspire some interesting dessert like interpretations, orange cream chocolates and derby pie consistently come to mind, luxuriously woodsy, smooth charred bourbon barrel, dates, chocolate, and a mysterious creamy mint nuance darts around in the shadows, all coalesce on a slick, creamy medium body, rich and satisfying, yet cut and approachable

22oz Best After July 2013 aged since release at 55-65º, served at 55º into Stölzle Weinland 15.5 oz water glass

Serving: 22 oz. bottle via trade. It pours a viscous jet black with a large, dense, and lasting dark tan head. The nose is full of roasted malt and dried fruit. Rich and flavorful on the tongue. Notes of leather, tobacco, smoke, roasted malt, spicy hops, and dried stone fruit. Full bodied with lower carbonation and a lasting finish. Outstanding beverage that is holding up superbly.
