4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 jrob21 (2010) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 4, 2013
One of my favorite anniversary beers that I have been stealthfully able to keep up with. This years was smuggled back on an emergency trip out to San Diego. 22 poured into a pint glass. The chocolate and figs are very apparent. This is one of the richest, deepest, most complex porters you will ever come across. Smooth on the sip and entirely too easy to drink at 11%.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 RaucusBacchus (13) - Sandy, Utah, USA - MAY 2, 2013
Vinous nose with a spartan head. Coats the glass like simple syrup. Sweet forward, full bodied with a rich, chocolate finish. The 11% heat comes through on the wain. A very good sipper. ~m

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 rougeau13 (1592) - Texas, USA - MAY 2, 2013
Nearly black with a beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, dark chocolate, wood, must, molasses, and a hint of spice. Medium-full bodied and silky smooth. Taste is rich chocolate, figs, and molasses dominate the flavor. The alcohol is barely discernible. I have another bottle that I’ll age for a while more, but this is pretty good stuff.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (6916) - London, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2013
Bottle shared at Bruce’s 30th Birthday Bash - CBC Clerkenwell, London. Big thanks to the birthday boy! Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Burnt sugar on the nose, lots of roast, charred malts and raisins. Medium to big sweet flavor with some earthy bitterness, burnt wood, chocolate syrup. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Bitter earth to finish, more burnt wood, dark chocolate, baking cocoa, burnt sugars more generally. Rich, lasting dark chocolate. Good bitterness to off-set the sugary chocolate. Big hitter.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 DocJitsu (304) - California, USA - APR 7, 2013
Pours an opaque, very dark brown with a light mocha, nitrogen-like foamy head. Vanilla and coconut dominate the aromas. Some dark roast malt is in the background. The mouthfeel is quite pleasant. Creamy, thick, and just enough carbonation for balance. Chocolate and coconut flavors present first. Some coffee emerges in the middle. Sweet coconut and brown sugar at the finish. This is a lovely imperial stout. No alcohol flavor or warmth noted at all.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Caskalefan (119) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - APR 3, 2013
UPDATED: APR 4, 2013 Fairly viscous deep mahogany/brown pour with a small off-white head. Slightly syrupy body that coats the mouth with raisins, dates, figs, prunes, rummy notes, deep, dark chocolate, and a finish that is quite bittersweet. Flirts with cloying, at times, but avoids it. Another Excellent effort from Deschutes.
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20 Beerenberger (784) - Fischer, Texas, USA - APR 3, 2013
UPDATED: APR 4, 2013 Aroma of dark fruit, and figs with notes of chocolate. Pours a rich inky black with a nice mostly dissipating dark tan head and spotty lacing. The taste is a combination sweetness and bitterness. The more I drink this the more cloying it becomes. Syrupy sweet with a strong bitter aftertaste. Medium-full body with medium carbonation. Overall, I would not drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tdoyledesign (53) - Michigan, USA - APR 1, 2013
I am not much for porters but the fact that this rates up there with my favorite stouts speaks volumes. Pours a dark brown with a faint head. Aroma is pleasant with some spices. Palate is multi faceted but not too complex. Taste is very good, but perhaps a bit flat. This could be because I tasted it back-to-back with various stouts. Overall a very good porter. Extremely drinkable for its type.
