COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
XXIV. 24 years after Black Butte Porter’s debut, our potent, layered, imperial tribute returns. As usual, it’s a jazz riff, guided by the brewer’s muse and the lure of exotic ingredients. Artisanal dark chocolate nibs. Daglet dates. Mission figs. It may, possibly, hopefully, be the best edition yet. But, as it should be, you’ll be the judge of that.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a smattering of tan bubbles. Nose is fig, caramel, chocolate, dates and vanilla. Rich and silky medium body with a buzz. Taste features that wonderful fig and date combo, the chocolate adds a bitter note to balance the fruit and malt. Slight coffee linger, quite tasty.

beige head leaves some lacing. coffee coloured. aroma is boozy, cardamon, vanilla. taste like aroma with some coffee notes and a bitter aftertaste. the spice is overpowering, but still enjoyed it a lot, well executed imho, but one glass is enough. quite dense mouthfeel, medium carbonation. bottle 50cl

Bottle, massive thanks to Endo - king of PDX for gifting me this one, split with Simon at 20MR 03/08/14. Mid black with a well appointed tan covering that just sits and watches and never wains, perfect retention - 5/5! Nose is malt forward, cocoa powder, liqourice, light mineral and spice, dark toffee. Taste is a full on chocolate malt shake, chocolate maltesers, faint liqourice, dark fruit vibes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, smooth and massaging on the palate. Superb imperial porter.

Draft pour at special brews. Pours black with a cappuccino tan head. Dark fruit aroma. A lot of cereal and dark fruit flavors, with some cocoa too. Forever lasting chocolate and dark fruit finish. Amazing beer here. Loved it.

Going by memory but it was a big thick luscious brew with lots of chocolate and dark fruit characteristics. The bottle was two years old.

Had this at a tap takeover, brewer was in the house and brought it as a specialty keg. Pours a dark black like oil, with tan head. Dark fruits, cocoa, and some barrel like notes on the nose; follows onto the palate.
