3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big roasted aroma, with dark fruit, and a touch of alcohol. Pours an opaque black, with a finger of tan head. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel, with a lot of dark chocolate notes in the beer. The dark fruit is there, a bit subdued, and the beer doesn’t have quite the roasted notes you expect in a porter. The finish is long, with bitter notes blending with a touch of roast. A little bit of alcohol heat is noticeable. This is one I would be tempted to cellar for a couple of years, and see how it holds up.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
"A wonderful rich chocolate aroma greets the nose right off. Good doses of roasted malt, and a dark fruit cornucopiaas well. The flavor is still sweet, but not overly so like last years was inching towards. Great full, smooth body, and a solid balanced flavor. Loving this as an after dinner type brew. A treat!"

beige head leaves some lacing. coffee coloured. aroma is boozy, cardamon, vanilla. taste like aroma with some coffee notes and a bitter aftertaste. the spice is overpowering, but still enjoyed it a lot, well executed imho, but one glass is enough. quite dense mouthfeel, medium carbonation. bottle 50cl

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, massive thanks to Endo - king of PDX for gifting me this one, split with Simon at 20MR 03/08/14.
Mid black with a well appointed tan covering that just sits and watches and never wains, perfect retention - 5/5!
Nose is malt forward, cocoa powder, liqourice, light mineral and spice, dark toffee.
Taste is a full on chocolate malt shake, chocolate maltesers, faint liqourice, dark fruit vibes.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, smooth and massaging on the palate.
Superb imperial porter.
