COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dates, figs and chocolate. Black currants, barrel-aged in bourbon casks. The result is an Imperial Porter with a tart berry and chocolate aroma with luscious layers of dried fruit, oak and vanilla. A fitting tribute to the 25th Anniversary of our flagship beer.

Toasted malt aroma; inky black appearance with foamy tan head; okay caramel taste; silky on the palate with a light fizz and a quick bitter finish; overall, a fantastic porter ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle:   Deep dark brown, thin to moderate frothy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Roasty nose, faint alcohol, dark chocolate, soft oak and even softer vanilla.   Not as strong or sweet as I would have thought.   Oddly enough, as the description states, this one is very similar.   Black currant, bourbon, dark chocolate, oak, and some vanilla.   Very flavorful and interesting, but not as much body as I would have hoped.   Good, but needs to be richer, and a tad bit sweeter.   Perhaps that would come with the increase in body?   Good, but not great.

Outstandingly smooth at 11%! This is an excellent porter! Caramel & chewy. Delicious & so drinkable! The bourbon barrel provides a nice undertone & level of complexity to this beer! Pitch black & an enticing aroma - this is well done!

On tap at The Sixgill. Glossy black, with a beige head like a lightly toasted marshmallow. Pretty one. The fruit is such a wonderful balance to the molasses and roasted malts in here. Aroma is just fantabulous. Chocolate covered cherries, brown sugar, and big medjool dates. Some oak and vanilla behind. Flavor follows suit, and covers the 11+% beautifully. This is seriously tasty stuff, and the fruit really gives it a lift that not a lot of brews this weighty can offer. Really nice!

Deeply brown, almost black. Tan head lasts the drink. Maltt molasses ans alcihol aroma. Taste is thicker and has molasses licorice and tobacco. Alchy. Not the best.

22oz bottle. Pours a dark black/brown with a finger wide tan head that shrinks to a thin tan ring with decent lacing. Aroma is of Chocolate, dates, figs, and coffee, though not as intense as I might like. The mouthfeel is a little thin, but acceptable. The carbonation is moderate but it has a lingering sharpness to that negatively effects the finish. The taste starts with the sweetness of dark fruit, molasses, balanced with bittersweet chocolate, and french roast coffee bitterness. Disappointingly for a BBA beer, there are only faint notes of bourbon in the aroma and the taste. The initial sweetness quickly declines leaving mild fig and hop notes dominated by a nice coffee roast bitterness and an annoying astringent aftertaste that has the illusion of being linked to the perception of the carbonation. A disappointing beer considering my expectations. Perhaps it needs to develop and mellow through additional cellaring since I am drinking it well before the Best After date of 6/10/14 printed on the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the parentals with my dad. Pour is deep black with a small brown head and great lacing. Cocoa, sweet brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, woody, dark cherrries, fruity, figgy, caramelly, and leathery aroma. Taste is big raisin, red grapes, dark cocoa, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, light maple, roasty, and cocoa. Slick/syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Tasty stuff and no real signs of alcohol.

Tap: black pour with thin tan head. Aroma is toasted barrel, a small bit of bourbon, dried berries, fig, chocolate and malt. Flavor is nice with dried cherries, chocolate, mild toasted oak, fig, vanilla, and very subtle whiskey note. A great sipping beer with lots of flavor and changes as it warms, I just wish some of the flavors hit a little harder.
