Dates, figs and chocolate. Black currants, barrel-aged in bourbon casks. The result is an Imperial Porter with a tart berry and chocolate aroma with luscious layers of dried fruit, oak and vanilla. A fitting tribute to the 25th Anniversary of our flagship beer.

Draft. Roasty, darkly sweet, chocolate aroma, lightly spicy and toasty with notes of sweet alcohol, oak, currant, dark, berryish fruit, roasted malts, dark chocolate, faint bourbon, char and earthiness. Opaque black color, with a fine, uneven, slight, light tan head, some sparse lacing and legs noted as well. Flavor profile is exceedingly complex, with suggestions of pepper, dark chocolate, toffee, old wood, dark fruit, fig, black currant, rich, dark malts, toasted bread, cherry, earth, alcohol, bourbon and faint espresso. Warming and gently acidic on the palate, low in effervescence with a huge body. Seems to go on forever. This is a gigantic beer.

Jet black body complete with a rocky cap floating on top. Just took a massive first sip and it was good, but on to the aroma. Really smell the bourbon, vanilla, hints of chard wood, coffeeish but not, its all good. Taste is smooth..... to smooth............. way to smooth, drinks quick. The black current is noticeable on the tongue. Coffee, bourbon, burnt stuff. Starting to come across really sweet. I like this beer, thanks Fran!!!!

Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass. A: Bourbon up front but not as strong as expected with some raisins, chocolate, cinnamon, molasses, vanilla, a little bit of fig and some cherries. A: A deep, dark brown that lets a trace of light through as the off-white minimal head leaves ample lacing on the glass. T: Dark fruits seem to dominate the taste, with a chocolate and slight nuttiness also. Oak and bourbon round out each sip. P: Medium to full bodied, creamy smooth mouth-feel with a medium carbonation that works well with this beer. O: The currants added a nice fruity flavor that walks the line of being overly sweet and jammy.

800th RATE!!!!! Loved xxi so was anxious to try this one. Nice dark pour. Alma of several things chocolate bourbon dark fruits. Nice palate. Taste was just too hot. Best date was 06/2014. Taste had some chocolate and then bitter plus alcohol. Aging would have helped this.

One of my favorite series that I have lucked into maintaining. A little sweet and syrupy. Some roasty malt and chocolate. Plum prune and light soy sauce aromas. Much of the same in the flavor. Finish is bright and fruity with lots of prune. Good desert sipping beer.

22 oz. bottle. It ours a dark brown color with a brown head. The aroma is very interesting with fudge, roasted malt, a touch of marshmallow sweetness and background notes of dates and fig especially as it warms. The flavor is much more fruit forward with big time currant, fig and dates, a little roast and dark chocolate with very subtle hints of bourbon. Very rich on the palate with a great roasted, slightly fruity tart finish. Awesome stuff. I’ll be sticking up on this one.
