COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dates, figs and chocolate. Black currants, barrel-aged in bourbon casks. The result is an Imperial Porter with a tart berry and chocolate aroma with luscious layers of dried fruit, oak and vanilla. A fitting tribute to the 25th Anniversary of our flagship beer.

On tap at Three Aces. Poured black with light tan foam, decent lace. Light roasted malt aroma, some molasses and soy. Quite smooth oily feel thats lightly bitter and hangs around.

Black Butte 25 was consumed in Late August 2014, a few months after the ’best after’ date. Pours thick and black, with a rich tan head. Aroma is complex, of malts, chocolate, currant, and dark fruits. Taste is of bourbon, oak, vanilla with a bit of chocolate. Very good and balanced, complex but drinkable. Thumbs way up here. This is a great imperial porter.

Bottle, shared at RBAG by heavyleavy, and enjoyed again more recently. Hearty near black pour, ruby depths. Heaps of bitter chocolate, soft dark fruits, black cherry, oaky vanilla. Rich and delicious.

Bottle with about a year on it, with the XXIV. Some red wine character on the nose from the currants, and some brooding dark fruit/red wine on the finish too. Much leaner in mouthfeel and richness than the XXIV at this point with still pretty heavy bitter hop character.

August Ale Alpharetta. Poured close to blackout. Aroma was dark fruits, cocoa, light bourbon and some booze. Taste is similar with the barrel aging not as prominent. Booze is there but nice, dark chocolate and dark fruits all over.

Bottle in Vegas, baby! Hotel tasting. Pretty much black, dark brown head. Aroma of rich vanilla and milk chocolate. Taste is Italian espresso soda with mokka. Nice.

Bottle, Patiently enjoyed 2 months beyond the ‘best after’ date. A finger of creamy beige head atop a dark brown body… looks fantastic in my new Deschutes teku. At first, the nose resembles Abyss, but sweeter. A sugary-sweet, molasses, berries, and chocolate. Heavy roast in the taste, oak, cocoa, and currants. Picking up a little anise too. Good stuff, very rich. Thanks Jeremy for sending this over.

Phenomenal imperial porter. Aroma of bourbon and chocolate. Thick and very dark in appearance. Heavy and oily palate. Carbonation was solid. Flavors of bourbon, oak, chocolate, roasted malts and currant. Definitely a sipper and I hope they choose to revisit this again someday.

Poured from a bomber on 8/3/14, about 2 months after the suggested drink date on the bottle. Aroma and taste were dominated by the fruit (currant and fig), although molasses, chocolate, oak, and vanilla were all in there. Excellent beer.

22oz black waxed bomber via trade with PeterHazleton. Poured dark brown/almost black with a small foamy khaki colored head. Aroma is super boozy. Notes of dark fruit, dark chocolate, bourbon, and oak. Taste mimics the nose, but finishes with notes of sweet caramel.

22 oz bottle pours dark brown with a minimal head. Aroma is roasty, fruity and boozy. Taste is dark chocolate, molasses, bourbon, oak, burnt toast some hints of fruits I cant put my finger on. Very good beer. Finishes smooth.
