COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 26th anniversary imperial porter was aged in bourbon barrels and dry spiced with theo chocolate’s cocoa nibs, revealing hints of vanilla and chocolate. Pomegranate molasses and Oregon cranberries complement the robust flavor with a hint of fruits and just enough tart to make you smile. Note:- Best After date can be found stamped on the left-hand side of the label.

Thank you Maakun. 650 ml. bottle sampled @ Pre-Borefts Ratebeer Tasting 2016. Black with mocha bubbles. Nose is thick warming molasses, quite boozy, syrupy with low vanilla. This sweet molasses taste with low smoke, woody, very faint fruits, thick warming syrupy consistency syrupy, brown sugar, low licorice. Lovely, thick, massive. Very good.

Bottle shared @ Borefts Pre-tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is malts, raisins, bourbon, sweet, a slight touch of red fruits, quite some alcohol, lightly fruitpeel tart. Medium body, firm carbonation. Hmm ok but not as good as I had hoped.

Süßlich malziger, eher herb trockener Beginn. Wenig würzig, die starken Aromen sind disharmonisch. Nicht so meins. 10/8/7/8/9/8

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2016 Bottle at Pre-Borefts. Very dark brown with beige head. Licorice, ash, lots of toffee, there some sweet vanilla bourbon but it’s mostly sweet malts, marzipan. There’s some fruit but more in the background. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Over medium bodied with slick feel.

Black Butte XXVI Bottle; Pour is murky brown, with a modest khaki head into this snifter. It retains on the average / below average side of things, with some sticky lacing presence. The nose is cocoa and molasses, with some dark fruit presence, like currants. The flavor profile reveals bakers chocolate, light roast elements, moving to a clearer dark fruit presence thanks to the cranberry additions. Pomegranate molasses is a new one for me - anyway - it’s quite nice, overall. But perhaps too fruit forward. Feint vanilla - but perhaps no discernible bourbon presence. Anyway - An oldie - with a fresh take.

Bomber. Pours very dark brown but not totally pitch black. Cranberries really come through on the nose along with cacao. Full bodied and chocolaty. The fruitiness helps cut through the richness of the beer. Glad this had a few years on it as it isn’t hot at all. Delicious and interesting.
