COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 26th anniversary imperial porter was aged in bourbon barrels and dry spiced with theo chocolate’s cocoa nibs, revealing hints of vanilla and chocolate. Pomegranate molasses and Oregon cranberries complement the robust flavor with a hint of fruits and just enough tart to make you smile. Note:- Best After date can be found stamped on the left-hand side of the label.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, best after 6/13/2015. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, molasses, cranberry, raisin, pomegranate, plum, cherry, fig, licorice, leather, tobacco, vanilla, oak, light bourbon/smoke, and oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, dark fruit, and light-moderate bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, molasses, cranberry, raisin, pomegranate, plum, cherry, fig, licorice, leather, tobacco, vanilla, oak, light bourbon/smoke, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness, oak spiciness, and slight fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, molasses, cranberry, raisin, pomegranate, plum, cherry, fig, licorice, leather, tobacco, vanilla, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, dark fruit, and light-moderate bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel/fruit balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged blended imperial porter style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, dark fruits, and light-moderate bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. This has a lot of old ale qualities to it, balanced with moderate porter flavors. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle courtesy of a friend. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is sweet malt, molasses, liqourice. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth rich red berry fruit, alcohol palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Enjoyed 2 months beyond ’enjoy after’ date. Deep dark brown. Creamy beige head. Beautiful. Complex. Fantastic combinations of flavors and aromas. Nimble bigger medium, lighter full body. Excellent balance. Just a bit sticky. Pleasant warmth. A treat for a special occasion.

My celebratory Certified Cicerone Brew. Poured a very dark brown to black colour with a tan head that left thin lacing. Aroma was of vanilla, dark fruits, molasses, and roasted malts. Flavor is sweet chocolate, tart cranberry and molasses. Medium-Full bodied with a somewhat chewy mouthfeel and a somewhat astringent tart finish. Alcohol is not as strong as expected. Complex malt characteristics that a truly satisfying. Love this.

Pours dark black with tan head. Heavy body. Slight bourbon smell with chocolate, vanilla, berry, and sweet molasses. I have been storing this one for a year. Initial taste is sweet molasses, very slight alcohol, berry and vanilla. Then finishes a very dark chocolate flavor. I really enjoyed this.

On tap at Deschutes Brewery in Bend. Pours pitch black with a brown head and aroma of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and dark fruits. Taste is strong, lots of bourbon flavored along with molasses, chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, and spices leading to a warming finish.

With Z and A at the brewery in Bend, pours a pitch black pour with an ephemeral Java head . Nose is rich deep chocolate with malt and dark fruit . Taste is sweet deep chocolate , fruity with dark fruit . Finish is sweet and ends on the dark chocolate fruity notes. Fabulous ! Quaff Score 8 / 10
