3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheLeadDog (101) - Kent, Washington, USA - MAY 30, 2006A good Brown Ale. Simialr to Moose Drool but not as heavy. Good carmel and malt flavors with a slight berry aftertaste. Flavor lasted after food and didn’t fill me up with dinner. Does Deschutes make a bad beer? I haven’t found one yet!!!

I like this beer! It’s great in hot weather, really drinkable. It’s a great lighter brown ale. Always drink it with good friends.

Reviewed from notes.
Poured into a pint glass. The color is a moderate brown with a slight bit of murkiness. Good head and lacing. The nose brings forward some caramel, toffee, light nuts, and some mild fruit. The taste is bready with a bit of caramel and toffee. Good body and carbonation, this is a pretty nice brown ale and quite sessionable as well.

Good malty sweet aroma that continues into the flavor. It ends pretty bitter for a brown though. Good medium bodied mouthfeel and overall a pretty good beer.

Nice looking dark and dusky red liquid with a good off-white head and lots of lacing. Pleasant, natural aroma. The flavors work in concert, rather than separately. The aroma has a lot of malt with a great nutty background. Very good beer. Light and nutty flavor. It’s a good brown ale, if not a highly complex one. Every beer doesn’t have to be a jigsaw puzzle and this beer works definitely accomplishes its goals. Feel is a bit thin, perhaps. There’s nothing really wrong the feel given the abv. A very sessionable beer.

12 oz bottle. Warm brown in the glass, with red burst of color when held to the light. Murky, with cream colored head to lace. Nose is sweet malt and brown sugar and alcohol, like a barleywine. Taste is much lighter than nose. Definite sweetness, and very light malt. Fairly empty finish. I’ll have to let it warm, but as of now, the nose is better than the mouth.

Pours a deep brown with a nice off white head. The nose is biscuity, malt, and roasted grains. The taste is sweet malt, some low bitter notes, caramel, and nut. This is a good cheap brown ale.
