marcus (1515), Sacramento, California, USA May 30, 2009 At Sudwerk Beerfest 2009. This blonde ale poured with a foamy beige head and a malty aroma. There is a carbonated caramel malt flavor with a nice amount of hop bitterness. josephselander (42), Salem, Oregon, USA May 28, 2009 Appearance – Pours a beautiful crisp looking orange with light yellow edges. The 1 an a half finger head was creamy white. There is a nice layer of foam left to protect the aromas trying to escape.
Smell – Light crystal malt, light hops, I even pick up some corn? Smells like an APA to me.
Taste – It is hard to describe this one because I taste something that resembles corn, but I can’t start to even believe that Deschutes uses corn in their brewing process of this beautiful beer. It is slightly citrusy, which is now taking over that ”corn” scare I had. I can taste some tangerines and lemons with a little hop back to it.
Mouthfeel – Crisp, light, refreshing. This is what an APA is supposed to be. The carbonation is excellent, lends a nice crisp feel to the beer that says “take another sip.”
Drinkability – This is definitely the perfect beer choice for me tonight. After a hard day’s work you just want to sit back, relax, and enjoy a nice light beer that won’t weigh you down. This is your perfect BMC alternative.
savnac (182), Palmer, Alaska, USA Apr 22, 2009 Bottle. Light aroma of grain and northwest hops. Gold with a white head. Flavor is sweet malt with a light bitterness. Crisp, smooth and very drinkable. This is a good session beer, just nothing that really makes you say wow. stchloe (403), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 7, 2009 Sort of an ale. A good and tasty golden, but nothing incredible to speak of. Blah. Plamadude30k (93), , Arizona, USA Mar 25, 2009 A very enjoyable, if standard, pale ale. Caramel is pronounced in the nose and the aftertaste. Some hoppiness, a little citrus. That’s about it. decaturstevo (1757), decatur, Tennessee, USA Mar 16, 2009 I first thought this beer was suppose to be a pale ale. I scored it much lower but changed it when I found out they were talking about the water supply and not the hops they used to make it. Very light citrus aroma from a gold pour with a creamy white head and lace. Medium malt flavor, dry light hop finish. A tad of perfume as well. Not fizzy but foamy. A decent beer for what it is. jcwattsrugger (4908), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Mar 10, 2009 12oz bottle-pours a rich off white head and gold color. Aroma is light malt-biscuity/slight caramel, hint spice hops, orange. Taste is grainy/light malt-biscuity/slight caramel, hint spice hops. LinusStick (1796), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 10, 2009 Courtesy Chewy. Thanks man! If I was rating this to style it would be a lot higher. Aroma was OK. Light earthy hops with a big "stale beer"-ness to it. Pour was a nice murky orange iwth a one finger off white head. Taste was like every Golden/Blond ale I’ve had. Old light malt and stale beer with a biting bitter hoppy aftertaste.
