COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cascade Ale is crisp and refreshing. Generous herbal hop character and just a hint of caramel malt create a perfect balance.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2003 A really strange thing happened as I was revising my master beer list, I found that I’ve never had a “Cascade Ale”, got the polo shirt, got the label, got a T-Shirt, I’ve even got a leather coaster. How the hell could I have overlooked this great beer? As it set in the glass sparklingly clear amber color, the head behemothic in size, spumous in texture and the color a winsome light tan with the lace a satin sheet lying upon the glass. The aroma of Tettnang and Saaz hops greets your senses first, followed by the malt sweetness, citrus crisp and fresh, what a treat for the old schnozzle, front is ambrosial, rich in malt with the top middling in its feel to the palate. Finish is Delightful in its acidity, the hops flowery and pleasant, very dry aftertaste, and a treat long over due for this lover of Deschutes.

12oz bottle from La Bodega. Kind of a simple, toned-down pale ale. Some toffee and caramel notes in the background but herbal hops dominate the flavor and aroma. Solid beer.

Not sure why some of the low scores. This is what a beer should be like! It’s not trying to push any extreme or play fancy with anything. It’s a wonderful session beer that still has plenty of flavor and hops. Pour is golden with plenty of foam. The aroma gives you a little hops along with the malt. A little more hops thrown in with the taste, following up with plenty of malt, biscut and carmel.

355ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a modest white head that settles leaving some thin spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is light caramel with some floral and citrus hop notes. Taste is light caramel malt sweetness with some herbal and citrus hop bitterness. This is one of the better blond ales I have tried from the USA, very pleasing and balanced flavors.

On tap at Deschutes Brewpub. Pours almost clear amber with a foamy white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, orange peel, English malts. Flavour is bitter, English malts, orange peel, and is quite herbal. Not the most exciting beer out there, but a decent example of this style.
