3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Global Brew. Pours a cloudy pale yellow, like a lemonade color along with a small bead white head that diminishes, but remains throughout. Taste is classic Belgian Wit (like a Hoegaarden) with a stronger hop character including medium bitterness and citrus. Very good product, refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a light bright golden orange with a moderate fizzy white head. Aroma is bright with the crisp belgian yeast and a zest of citrus from the hops. Flavor has quite a nice blend of belgian wit and ipa, leaning heavier on the wit side with a refreshing spiciness and a dry finish. Hops are present but act as a compliment to the belgian side. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. I dig this belgian ipa.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a very pale lightly hazy yellow with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of citrusy hops along with an earthy/spicey yeast profile. Flavor of the same. Really like the hop profile in this beer and the dry crispness the belgian yeast and light malts provide.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy pale yellow pour with a white head. Aroma is malt as is the taste. Not hoppy at all? Little spiciness. OK beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Common Table. Reviewed from notes. The beer pours a pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma has some nice grass and orange notes, as well as some wheat. The flavor is very similar. There is a small amount of bitterness, but there is a greater amount of orange from the hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a straw glow and a very thin, white head. Aroma of pale malt, wheat, yeast, coriander seed, curacao, light spices and a good amount of light hops - very nice nose. Light -bodied; Sharp hop bite up front with a ton of wheat, yeast and coriander seed notes, showing as much wit characteristics as the hops. Aftertaste shows a good complexity with some earthier malt tucked in with a lot of wheat, some light curacao and lemon flavours followed by a hint of spiciness and ending with a touch of a hop bitterness. Overall, a very nice beer, and one style that’s really growing on me, and for that - this one is a pretty nice example of that. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Collection in Honolulu, Hawaii (Oah’u) on 10-December-2012 for US$2.25 sampled at home in Washington (DC) the day before heading back out to the West Coast - Seattle.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Full disclosure: I’m rating this an IPA even though it tastes a whole lot more like a Belgian Wit. This doesn’t smell or taste anything like an IPA and while it does taste good, it’s most definitely not what I expected when I read the words ’IPA’ on the label (sorry, you can say what ya want but I’m an American and inasmuch, I believe in truth in advertising). Anyway.... this pours a pale straw color with a thin white head that disappeared quickly. Nose is Belgian yeast and a hint of clove and lilies. Mouth is light, with a lot of Belgian-y yeasts and some lemon zest, followed by some biscuit. Lackluster finish. Deschutes is new to the Chicago market (and I really liked the Hop Henge I I had the other day) so I’ll give their other beers a try.... but please don’t advertise an IPA and give me a Wit. I don’t know how that goes over in Oregon, but here in the City of Big Shoulders, that shit don’t float.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled from BevMo. Nose is sweetly hopped with a pretty big yeast aroma and some spice. Moderate hops up front with a good dose of cloves and a little banana. Somewhat sweet with a little bit of spiced hops in the finish. A lot like a hopped up hefe with wit spices.
