3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JMerritt (1676) - Macomb, Illinois, USA - JAN 18, 2013
Bottled. Hazy pale yellow with a very small, whispy bright-white head. Belgian wit nose - bright wheat graininess, overripe banana, spicy coriander and clove, musty yeast esters, orange and lemon zest. Belgian wit follows into the initial flavors, but are quickly met with mild-to-moderately bitter hops and soft leathers. Moderately carbonated with a full mouthfeel. Overall, the Belgian qualities are more pronounced than India pale ale. I’d have this again, particularly in the spring/summer when it would serve as a nice refresher.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Indra (2476) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JAN 17, 2013
12oz. bottle. Big fruity, spicy, citric aroma, some lemon and faint banana with notes of clove, orange peel, light, honeyish sweetness, and faint hints of grapefruit and leafy hop. Hazy, pale straw yellow in color with a fine, uneven, lasting head, plenty of fine particulates in suspension are seen when held to the light. Flavor profile is very nicely balanced between the various elements, and that is really the key to this beer, I think, starting with mild bitterness and citrus that slowly gives way to the insistent sweetness and spice, more clove and banana here as well, and finishing with a touch of fresh, citric hop flavor amidst the lingering spice. Highly effervescent and ultimately fairly dry on the palate, quite refreshing and easy to drink with a light-medium body. This is very obviously an offshoot of the collaboration that Deschutes did with Boulevard, although with several notable differences. Makes an excellent warm-weather choice, but isn’t a bad option here in the middle of January, either.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 tmoreau (1625) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 17, 2013
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and served to a shaker at their Deschutes intro tapping. Showed a hazed, light golden/straw color, with a modest amount of white head foam that reduced fairly quickly to a ring & film, and left sparse spots & streaks of lacing. The nose was floral and citrus as white grapefruit, with light, yeasty funk hidden behind. With a light to medium body and lively carbonation, the flavor added a medium but lingering bite of lemon rind hop bitterness, with light malt to smooth the edge a bit. Moderately tame, finished a little dry, and decently drinkable.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 trumpetskid (95) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 16, 2013
To me this beer seems much more like a straight up wit beer than it does an IPA. There is a lot of citrus and spice in the aroma and the flavor, but I don’t get a lot of hops. It is a very light, citrusy beverage. I think it would be a nice summer session beer

On tap at Global Brew. Pours a cloudy pale yellow, like a lemonade color along with a small bead white head that diminishes, but remains throughout. Taste is classic Belgian Wit (like a Hoegaarden) with a stronger hop character including medium bitterness and citrus. Very good product, refreshing.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 FunkyBrewster (1513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 15, 2013
Bottle. Pours a light bright golden orange with a moderate fizzy white head. Aroma is bright with the crisp belgian yeast and a zest of citrus from the hops. Flavor has quite a nice blend of belgian wit and ipa, leaning heavier on the wit side with a refreshing spiciness and a dry finish. Hops are present but act as a compliment to the belgian side. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. I dig this belgian ipa.

Bottle pours a cloudy yellow with a thin white top. Scent is fruity citrus. Taste is lemons, wheat and yeast. Good

Pours a very pale lightly hazy yellow with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of citrusy hops along with an earthy/spicey yeast profile. Flavor of the same. Really like the hop profile in this beer and the dry crispness the belgian yeast and light malts provide.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jhamp9 (752) - Corinth, Texas, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Hazy yellow pour with a white head and nice lacing. Nice citrusy aroma with some yeast. Taste is orange and lemon with wheat and yeast. Very easy to drink. Interesting.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GranvilleTim (1208) - Granville, Illinois, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Cloudy pale yellow pour with a white head. Aroma is malt as is the taste. Not hoppy at all? Little spiciness. OK beer.
