3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Hazy pale yellow with a very small, whispy bright-white head. Belgian wit nose - bright wheat graininess, overripe banana, spicy coriander and clove, musty yeast esters, orange and lemon zest. Belgian wit follows into the initial flavors, but are quickly met with mild-to-moderately bitter hops and soft leathers. Moderately carbonated with a full mouthfeel. Overall, the Belgian qualities are more pronounced than India pale ale. I’d have this again, particularly in the spring/summer when it would serve as a nice refresher.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sort of looks like a sour, sorta tastes like a sour, but it is not a sour. Sickly yellow with soapy foam, it has an acidic nose at first, followed by dry biscuit. It’s a bit acidic rolling over the tongue, but finishes as a bready IPA. It’s OK.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[Tap] Pours a somewhat cloudy golden color with a large and foamy white head. Citrus hop nose. Decent Belgian character to the flavor was pleasantly surprising, and a little unexpected. A good amount of wheat malt, spice, and vanilla mix with the hoppy character pretty well. I find most beers in this style are hit or miss for me, but this was one of the good ones in my opinion. Tasting notes from 1/2014.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
From the bottle there is a little nose & more suspended particles than most of my homebrew. Over-carbonated, why bother calling it an ipa, it’s very Belgian, and that’s ok & I mean that in the most respectful yeasty, spicy way...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours pineapple juice hazy yellow. Nose pine, pineapple, floral hop, sugars. Tastes very fruity, pineapple, oranges, sour apple, Belgian yeast, lemon, clean, toothpasty finish. Not bitter, this is not really an ipa to me. Not bad.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
aroma- coriander and citric. Spicey and peppery phenols. Slight sulphur.
appearance- Straw to light yellow with a frothy white head and a few rising bubbles. Some haze.
taste - Lemon, a citric tartness. A low toasted sweetness tries to sneak in through the citra hop flavor. Medium bitterness
palate - medium body with a creamy texture. Medium high carbonation followed by a slighyly dry finish.
overall - This is tough. If I am judging this beer as an IPA, as the title suggests, then it is obviously out of place. The use of a Belgian yeast strain and Citra hops are really enjoyable. Until there is a Belgian IPA category this should be considered a Belgian Specialty.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours hazy yellow with a large white head. Smells of wheat, coriander, and earthy hops. Taste is sweet and bitter, with hints of coriander. Medium-bodied with a wet texture and mild fizzy mouth-carbonation, Deschutes Chainbreaker White IPA finishes with a lingering earthy bitter tone.
