3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beardface (1497) - Eugene, USA - JUL 2, 2011
Tap at the Pdx location. Poured hazy gold with a spritz of white head and wispy lacing. Smells of wheat, yeast, pepper, light citrus and coriander. Flavor is similar but lighter on the hop flavor than I’d prefer. If yoy dont consider this an IPA it is pretty good though.

My first white IPA.
Chainbreaker is very pale golden color ale with some haziness. A tall fluffy head sits on top with plenty of lacing.
Aroma is akin to a Beligum wit but is balanced out with a citrus hop bouquet that lightens the wit beer aroma. Smells wonderful in all honesty.
Taste is like wow, light and refreshing hints of wheat malts, yeasty esters and lemon grass hops.
Drinks smooth and tart with a bitter finish.
Probably will be a hit in the summer no doubt, which would be prefect for that time of year.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy pale gold with over a half inch of thick white head that rings the glass throughout the drink. Nose of citrus and floral hops with the slight funk of a farmhouse yeast. Light citrus flavor with a little of the yeast coming through a little wheat. Very good summer beer.

Bottle at home, my second Deschutes White IPA of the evening. Pours cloudy pale green gold, 1-finger white head, soft lacing. Nose is spicy wheat, lemon, sherbet lemon, white pepper, salt. Flavours of wheat, gentle hops, watery. Not the equal of the Conflux.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 callmemickey (795) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 23, 2012
Hazy straw-yellow body. Large white head. Spotty lacing. Lemon zest, banana, wheat, grassy hops, floral notes, and a decidedly yeasty character at the end of each whiff. Flavor is more witbier, than IPA, with wheat, banana, and yeast taking precedence over the citric/grassy hops in the nose. Medium to light bodied, assertive carbonation, refreshing.

Off white, with gold in color, big white head. lots of pine on the nose, and citrus notes. Taste is dominated by pine (for me, probably because the nose is so strong), spicy, different. not bad.

On tap at Deschutes Brewery & Public House in Bend, OR. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a thin white head. The aroma is of piney and citrus hops with just a touch of coriander and Belgian yeast. While the aroma led me to believe this would be more IPA than Belgian wit the flavor is just the opposite. Really just a hopier than normal witbier. Good overall.

Bottle. Cloudy bright yellow with a pillowy white head that retains beautifully. Aroma is filled with fresh spicy hops, citrus and grassy notes. Hop driven flavour profile, guava, slightly herbal grass, spice, and light yeasty esters. peppery dry bitter finish. I’m really digging this spin on the style. White IPAs may be the perfect style for summer for me.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 trevor211 (990) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 4, 2012
Pours very, very pale -- slightly greenish, and... well... sort of gross-looking. Definitely hop-forward, but there’s a pretty light bill in here, overbalancing what must be about three or four grains of barley. It’s just lacking ingredients. Very cloudy (good point, Jane) -- and it has a decent body, with the flavor adding some grassy/herbal notes to the citrus in the aroma... but this is definitely lacking a bit. Interesting try, Deschutes.
