3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nice copper color with a soft white head. Aroma is quite sweet and malty, with light pine hop undertone. Moderately sweet, but well balanced...malt is in the forefront with a honey sweetness and light roast, hop-pine, and alcohol touches. An excellent barelywine.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Slightly hazy copper under a thin lasting off-white head. Lovely nose of hoppy citrus and plums and dates with a rich pseudo-amber malt backbone. Huge body and flavor profile featuring dates and piney hops and citrus rind, with an earthy-sweet biscuit undertone. A hint of raisin booziness throughout, but that biscuit lager-malt tone is super prevalent.

"Brilliant orange color, clearer than most. Is about as barleywine like as stoic is quad like. That said, stoic is my favorite beer called a quad, even if it is nothing like others in the style. This barleywine has lots of big, hoppy IPA qualities, but that’s too easy. So fruity that I was thinking Belgian yeast esters, though there’s not really any of the spice. I’ve never had a beer with this combo of qualities. Unique for sure, and very enjoyable. I can’t think of it as an elite barleywine, cause its not what I’d go for when I’m in the mood for one, but it is a great beer - labels be damned. Can’t wait to try the other two versions :)
