3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nice copper color with a soft white head. Aroma is quite sweet and malty, with light pine hop undertone. Moderately sweet, but well balanced...malt is in the forefront with a honey sweetness and light roast, hop-pine, and alcohol touches. An excellent barelywine.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Slightly hazy copper under a thin lasting off-white head. Lovely nose of hoppy citrus and plums and dates with a rich pseudo-amber malt backbone. Huge body and flavor profile featuring dates and piney hops and citrus rind, with an earthy-sweet biscuit undertone. A hint of raisin booziness throughout, but that biscuit lager-malt tone is super prevalent.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
I was fortunate enough to try this alongside Mirror, Mirror BW 2014 on it’s release date. While this is a fairly tasty fluid of it’s own accord, it literally pales in comparison to Mirror, Mirror. A much lighter shade than I expected, looks like that first piss in the morning after a long night of partying. Sour apples, brown sugar, wood, dank must, earth, citrus and dark bread in the flave and smell. A bit barnyard too. Quite enjoyable but tough to top Mirror, Mirror side by side.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From bottle. Deep dark golden color. Aroma is caramelized citrus, toffee, plum, and apple. Taste is pitted fruit, caramel malt, grapefruit, tangerine, and resin. Alternates between boozy, sweet syrupy, and bitter hoppy. Finishes with a good balance of the three.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle.A: Amber with a fluffy off-white head. Lacing.N: Biscuit, dough, grain, toffee, cola, caramel. Moderate hop citrus - orange, mango, and pineapple. Cherry/sherry/almond overtones. Bubble gum.T: Bitter like a DIPA with a grainy dough sweetness.M: Sticky, heavy, and no alcohol.O: Somewhat maligned given the pedigree, but it feels like a mix of Mirror Mirror and North Coast?s ubiqitous Old Stock. Worth a shot.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Soft orange color with a thin beige head. Light and airy nose, citrus and florals. Lightly malty. A flavor somewhere in between a fresh, young barleywine and a DIPA that’s on the malty side. Good citrus hop flavors. Drinks way too easily for 10.2%... nicely done.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Looks like honey with a small head. Aroma is sour with peach or stone fruit. Taste is a little sour but mostly sweet with a weird stove fruit skin after taste. Great barley wine.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from SBL: Poured a medium golden-honey hue while chunky sediment bits float about. Had to give it a hard pour just to create any formation of head but it did form and was creamy but it is obvious this bottle is past its expected shelf life. Aroma has minimal traces of sweet bready like malts while the hops have faded out of existence which ultimately leaves behind a beer that delivers a heavy dosage of boozy alcohol. Tiny hints of sweetness but not enough to make this stale and partially expired barleywine catch my interest.
