4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smoky, salty aroma, almost gives a bit of bacon. Deep black color with ruby tints and a tan head. Smoky flavor, ends sweet and sour. Goes down creamy and smooth.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
750ml bottle. Apperance: average head, spare lacing, cloudy red-brown color. Aroma: Cereal, burnt, alcohol. Taste: long duration, light everything except for vinegar and the absolutely staining taste of campfire smoke. Overall, the style if not for me, and the beer is not for me.

Bought this online and I came to be a bit underwhelmed by this beer. Flavors of note were burnt bacon, heavy roast, some cocoa, and lots of smoke, and wood, earthy. Maybe I just come to realize I don’t like smoke beers and then I remember Alaskan smoke porter.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from Wegmans. Pours a thin reddish brown, nearly black with a small tan head that hangs for a bit. The aroma is roasty, light chocolate, and faint smokiness. The taste has a nice rich chocolate flavor with a campfire smokiness on the finish. The smoke hangs on the tongue for a medium plus duration. This is an enjoyable brew.

Smoke but not the fire. Decent beer. Smoke permeates. Not incredibly memorable, hence this rather short review. Bottle - Shared with Westmeister

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Heavy dark brown pour with a thin foamy head that recedes after a couple minutes. Aroma is smokey but also has this odd woody perfumy floral tone, almost like a classy cabin...with a smoke fire on the patio. Flavor is initially sweet and smokey-roasty on a full body with a weird perfumey dark cocoa and molasses malt tone, smoke, and a little floral grease. Hard to describe. Not a huge fan, but I could take down the whole bomber.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep brown with a short tan head. Aroma is smoke but not as heavy as many smoked beer. Smooth light smokey taste, caramel, vanilla. A bit thin, and a bit understated, but a nice beer with no sign of 9% abv.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A steady pour into my New Belgium globe glass produces a two finger thick, full tan colored head. The beer is a dark chcolate brown color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright red-amber hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells like a dark, smoky chocolate, but with an oaky, fresh cut woodiness towards the back. There is a bit of burnt grain char here, and some meaty malt character (that is mostly brought out by the smoke).
The beer has a light sweetness to it that brings out a dark chocolate note here. The sweet ans moky character combines and balances itself quite well. Notes of charred grain, charcoal, smoky wood notes, and a touch of roasted grain in the finish that is quite smooth. The smoke and sweet dark malt combine to bring out an almost cherry like note. The finish can have a bit of alcohol warming to it at times, though it is fairly smooth for a beer of this strength. The body has a chewy richness to it, and a medium viscosity that isn’t overly thick, actually the beer has a lightness to considering the strength.
Definitely tasty, nicely ballanced; the beer is not overly smoky (though it is not the dominant character), and leaves a nice sweet malt note to be noticed (it actually accentuates it), and a light roasted character as well.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark burnt umber color with a finger or two of khaki foam. The nose is roasty, sweet caramel and a decent char smoke presence. The palate is thinner than expected with some sea salt caramel flavor that mingles with a smoked chocolate profile thats tasty but again a bit thin and underwhelming. Drinks pretty easily and the alcohol is well hidden but the complexity and mouthfeel leave a bit to be desired.
