4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Taster at a Deschutes Tap Takeover at Standard Market. The head is gone by the time I finished my other two Deschutes samples. Body is black, but somehow offers some highlights, like a black tea. Agh! My nose is numb from sniffing the XXIV and XXV before this. But I can still taste a big smoky combination of bacon and gouda. The Bamburg smoke distracts from any of the expected qualities of a strong porter. leaving the smoked and roasted malt, and a definite alcohol nose.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is slightly muted but there are notes of roast coffee and bitter chocolate along with a sweet smokiness of moderate strength. Some dark fruit notes and hints of caramel.
Pours a slightly dark brown with some ruby highlights and a fairly thick dark tan head that has fairly good retention, but does slowly fade to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing and faint legs.
Flavor is moderately sweet with a moderately strong smokiness; smoke is definitely stronger than in the aroma. Medium light dark fruit notes of cherry, raisin and plum. Moderate bitterness but no real discernible hop flavor. Moderate chocolate and lighter coffee notes. Lingering smoke, bitter chocolate and light coffee in the finish. Some alcohol notes in the finish, especially as it warms.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low but present astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall a nice smokey porter but the finish lingers a bit too long for me and turns a bit unpleasant after a while.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Aroma came across as vegetal with camp fire smoke. Flavour had smoke and toasted malts. Somewhat thin. I’m not big on this style, but even so I didn’t think this was very good.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a deep brown, near black, with two fingers of beige head. Nose of smoked meat, caramel, roasted malt, dark fruit. Smoke taste is a little more subtle than the aroma. Medium body. Not bad for a smoked beer, which I do not care for in general.

Pours a dark brown color with a very foamy tan head and lots of lacing .Nose is of smoke and chocolate. Full body. Creamy mouth feel. Some alcohol. Flavor is chocolate and treacle, with some smoke. Finish shows the chocolate. Rich, complex, and enjoyable beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared at the sausage fest. Aroma of campfire smoke, slight meat, and a nice chocolate malt. Pours brown with a healthy marshmallow head. Taste follows suit with burnt meat, chocolate and just a hint of burnt cookies. Mouthfeel is pretty thin and smooth which takes away in my opinion. Nice smoke beer.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
750ml bottle. Apperance: average head, spare lacing, cloudy red-brown color. Aroma: Cereal, burnt, alcohol. Taste: long duration, light everything except for vinegar and the absolutely staining taste of campfire smoke. Overall, the style if not for me, and the beer is not for me.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bought this online and I came to be a bit underwhelmed by this beer. Flavors of note were burnt bacon, heavy roast, some cocoa, and lots of smoke, and wood, earthy. Maybe I just come to realize I don’t like smoke beers and then I remember Alaskan smoke porter.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from Wegmans. Pours a thin reddish brown, nearly black with a small tan head that hangs for a bit. The aroma is roasty, light chocolate, and faint smokiness. The taste has a nice rich chocolate flavor with a campfire smokiness on the finish. The smoke hangs on the tongue for a medium plus duration. This is an enjoyable brew.

Smoke but not the fire. Decent beer. Smoke permeates. Not incredibly memorable, hence this rather short review. Bottle - Shared with Westmeister
