3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle. Clearish mahogany with a small, spotty, light beige head. Aroma of cherries, fruity bourbon, oak and toffee. Flavor is sweet malt, fruity esters, oak tannin, hot bourbon and a slight sourness. Medium body with soft carbonation. Very interesting beer, has lots going on but manages to come together fairly well. I wish Deschutes would have put Abyss and Mirror Mirror in this instead of Stoic and Dissident though.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle. Best After Date 4/30/13. Pours a medium, well retained, light beige head, with medium lacing, over a clear brown (SRM 30 body......nose is Bourbon, treacle, plum, dried cherry, vanilla, heavy fig.........taste is Bourbon, vanilla, dates, dried cherry, vinous tones, plum, raisin, fig, with moderate Cream Sherry sweetness, very light terpene......mouth feel heavy, sticky, alcohol burn present, carbonation low. This is a remarkably complex, very big heavy beer. To achieve an ABV of 11.6% with this amount of sweetness would have taken a very high O.G. with tremendous loads of malt or heavy adjuncts. The various barrels come through as a group, but it is difficult to tease out each one. This will continue to blend and mellow with time, for now it is an alcohol laden Sticky Toffee Pudding. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2012 Bottle with thanks to gorditoabd. Body is a ruddy brown with a minimal head and sour and tangy aromas with an underlying sweetness. First sip shows that this is an odd bird. Kind of sour and cloying at the same time. Not sure I totally approve of this one. I can see what they are trying to do, but itís not for me.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
15 June 2012. Bottle. Light ruby, clear, no bubbles. Nose is a tart bourbon aged strong ale. Super complex! Slightly tart. Rock candy sugar, lots of tart alcohol, slightly oaky, faintly raisiny like a barley wine. What a great collab!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Wow - this beer is huge and complex, especially being so young. The aroma and flavor brings a conglomerate of different notes from all the barrels and styles. The aroma on this particular bottle brings dominant Flemish Red nail polish notes with caramel coming in second then the cognac and oak combined. Crazy. The beer pours dark amber, almost murky, unclear for sure with a white sandy head. The flavors brings cognac, sherry and cherries from the quad combined, oak, bourbon, and tart sour notes as well. This brew is quite complex, all over the place but a nice blend overall of four fantastic berries in a wide respectable variety of barrels. Toss one up for big unique beers of awesomeness for the West Coast!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark copper color thatís completely opaque with dark amber edges and a two finger light beige head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Sweet, vinous aroma with a strong barrel character, sweet malt and subtle solvent/acetic acid. Lots of earthy oak and a combination of sweet spirits but the Pinot, rye whiskey and sherry notes really stand out. Slightly spicy with lots of vinous dark fruit. Underneath the barrels, there is some lactic funk and musty bugs along with sweet malt and more dark fruit. Iím not familiar with The Stoic but Iím certainly picking up elements from the Adam used in the blend. As it warms, hints of caramel, chocolate and toffee come out as well as some dark cherry, plum and raisin. Smells really complex and the faint solvent/acetone is the only thing keeping it from getting higher marks.
Medium bodied with slightly tart funk and a nice balance of barrel, dark malt, vinous fruit and spice. The barrel character is very prominent without overpowering the other characteristics. Lots of dry, toasted oak along with silky vanilla and sweet booze. The combination of spirits creates a really unique sweet boozy flavor that never becomes hot. The high ABV is actually excellently masked. I was shocked to see that it was that high. The spicy rye character is pretty strong as are the vinous dark fruit notes from the Pinot barrel. Really complex with elements of each barrel treatment coming through with each sip. Although there is a ton of barrel character/alcohol flavor, there is no heat and it isnít a complete booze bomb. Underneath the barrels, elements of the base beers(especially Adam) come through. Some slight smokey, roasted malt with dark chocolate, toffee and caramel as well as some vinous cherry, grape fig and plum. Faint tart, sourness but not acidic or harsh. Just a bit of acetic solvent but itís very faint and doesnít affect the flavor very much. Very complex and flavorful and the well masked ABV makes it deceptively drinkable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle from Bubbles. Pours hazy brown with some golden edges and very small off-white head that dissipates to a small ring. Aromas is complex with licorice, oak tannis, earthy malts, dark fruit, leather, and bit of tartness. Flavors of leather, whiskey barrel, earthy malt, licorice, dark fruits, and some underlying tartness. Kind of has that soft chalky mouthfeel you find with a well aged HOTD Adam. This is a pretty complex brew and I thought it was a little messy at first but it grew on me. Wish I had another bottle to lay down for a while to see how it develops. NIce.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is a WOW beer. Pours a red/brown color. Slightly fruity sour aroma. The best is the taste. Cherry, wood, tartness meld into one hell of a beer. Sticks to the roof of the mouth. Some white wine notes on the back end.
