3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 adnielsen (6152) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - AUG 10, 2011Bottle @ home. Slightly cloudy (less so than the Boulevard edition) with a full, pearl white head. A slightly more pronounced piney, earthy hoppiness in the nose than the Boulevard edition which has more of the witbier characteristics. Moderately piney, somewhat resiny hoppy, light wheat flavor. A tasty brew but more of a hoppy, resiny presence than the other version.

In short: A spicy Belgian Wit hopped like a refreshing fruity IPA. Nice White IPA.
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed not fresh enough (got confused on the style because of the Epic Project 2 I received at the same time). Generous rating considering I should have dranked this one right away. Bottle from mcberko, thanks a lot Matt.
The look: Partly cloudy pale blond body topped by a medium white head with medium retention.
In long: Nose has nice wheaty bananas, tropical fruits and such. Taste has pineapples, lemongrass, lemony wheat, some bananas, coriander, ginger. Smooth refreshing fruity bitterness. Unlike most White IPAs (unofficial name for wheat based IPAs) this one seems to use a typical spicy Belgian Witbier as the base beer instead of the usual straight up wheat ale. This makes for a more yeasty and spicy take on the style but very pleasant nonetheless. Refreshing summer beer. A refreshing beer I enjoyed fridge temperature because before drinking a beer I take it from my wine cellar and put it in the fridge for a few minutes, then 5 minutes later I cannot find my beer in my wine cellar and I turn my place upside down looking for my beer, and with the other 20% of my life I do other stuff.

Bottle from Toronado in SF, shared with this dude from Beer Advocate who was honestly kind of a douchebag -- not only was he a braggart, but he drank about 2/3 of this one. Thanks, asshole. Pours hazy light orange with some visible yeast. Lots of sweet orange, some grain and wheat. Belgian yeast. A bit too sweet and add.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - OCT 5, 2012
Got this guy as a random act of kindness, thanks Steve! Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy straw color with a light fluffy pure white head. The head slowly faints to a thin one centimeter film that follows me down the glass, along with some splotchy lace.
S: The smell is very much the Belgian side and not so much the IPA side. The funky yeast is present, very light though. Some light flowery hops, but they are very much hidden behind behind the yeast.
T: There are notes of the bubblegum funk from the yeast with a very light hoppiness although just like the nose the hops are put on the back burner to the yeast.
M: Light and clean with a nice fruity ester palate coating quality to it.
O: This drank more like witbier than a Belgian IPA. The hops definitely didn’t shine through like I would have liked in a Belgian-style IPA, but it still was good none the less. I do have to dock it down a tick due to the style though. I’m want to try the Boulevard version I have in my fridge to see the differences.

Pours a brilliant gold with a fluffy white head and tons of yeast floaties. Very citrusy aroma. Lemon, orange, and hops. Also notes of pine. Has a velvety mouth feel that is sliced by the citrus aftertaste. I taste a hint of grass in there, not sure what gave the taste but it was welcome.

RBAG summer 2012. From brown 650ml bottle. Yellow pour, has a lot of haze and some small floaties. Head was small and creamy and sticky round the edges of the glass. Nose had bread, spice and citrus with a little sweetness. In the mouth the beer had nice bready and wheaty malts with decent hoppiness. Some straw and grass in the fade out. Dryish end, clean, easy drinker.

Very nice collaboration. Starts and ends with citrus, but this is far from a one dimensional beer. Elements of wheat, coriander, yeast, and lemon. Tried at the Zona Rosa beer festival in 2011.

A - Slightly hazy golden-yellow with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of lemon, orange, and citrus hops, Belgian yeast, coriander, other spices, with some sweet bready malts.
T - Starts off with a mix of citrus hops with some lemon and orange peel, coriander, Belgian yeast, other fruity esters, and some pepper. Through the middle, some sweet bready malts come through with a touch of bitterness and floral hop with some more coriander, clove, and other yeast spices. The finish is a mix of sweet bready malts with some spices, lemon, Belgian yeast, and some citrus hops.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and spicy finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice Belgian IPA. Good mix of IPA flavor and Belgian yeast character.

Bottle at home, from the Pipeline... If White IPA was an accepted style, it would be my favorite style right now. Love both Deschutes and Boulevard, so this should be awesome... Pours a hazy pale gold, almost watery looking, into my Minneapolis Town Hall glass, head is 1-finger thick, white, and overall quite nice. Nose is lemongrass, white pepper, clean and spicy wheat, clove, ginger, so much lemony citrus here... Flavours of lemon, bright wheat, peppercorns, some ginger, really refreshing!
