Alround rating: Malty, caramel, caramalt, unmistakably american, lacking hops somewhat for me, im thinking it may be an old bottle. Probably worth trying again. scoth (275), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Pour is dark golden with a very rich creamy tan head. Nose is strongly pine and muskmelon. Tasting it brings out honey and vanilla. This is a light malty sweetness with a hoppy bitterness that is less than the nose suggest however not too little my any measure. Soft beer coats well with a gentle carbonation a has a slight thin feel. drjay44 (776), Salida, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 13, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, lasting head, over a medium amber (SRM 15) clear body....nose is medium bread, yeast, mild hop spice....taste initially is light malt sweet then balancing mild hop bitterness.....mouth feel is light to medium, carbonation average. The malt back bone is a bit too simple to be highly rated. Papsoe (14904), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Soft, fruity aroma with a little yeastiness and fruit and some caramel also. Fairly hoppy finish. A strange brew. 090709 jimmbo123 (37), Washington, USA

I don’t know how good it is in the bottle, but the sample I had was excellent. Very smooth and well balanced with superior tasting hops - like Stone Levitation Ale (nearly). Pours a copper color with two fingers of off-white head that dissolves into a frothy layer atop the beer. The aroma is mostly toasted malts and bread but there is some "metallic" aroma. Taste is caramel goodness upfront with some burnt bread and sweet bitterness on the end. Its medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Its pretty sweet with lots of bready notes. Decent enough but I prefer a little more hop character from an amber.
