Hop Henge Experimental IPA is our annual exercise in IBU escalation. An outrageous amount of Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It is dense and muscular, with a blend of crystal, pale and carastan malts creating an overall biscuity characteristic. Itís all hop, no apologies.

On tap. Pour is hazy orange with a medium sized white head. Aroma is of pine resin, grapefruit, and orange peel. Flavor also leans towards the fruit - mango, grapefruit, lemon peel, and pine needles. Finish is strong and bitter.

Pours a nice golden color and smells of malt and Belgian wheat with an ipa taste. Nice lacing and consistently good throughout .

bomber with best by date in 12 days (3/13/14) - I honor this concoction by pouring it into my Duvel tulip glass. Nose is pine, citrus and floral. Malty and balanced, but I bet it would be a lot better if fresher. A little boozy and grapefruity. Not the hop explosion label advertises. ABV on bottle states 9.3%

Nephilium (1259) - Ohio, USA - MAR 1, 2014
Starts with a big blast of grapefruit hops, pours a clear amber with a large white head. This is a hop monster, lots of citrus, a touch of pine, and just the smallest hint of malt. Long lingering bitter finish, and a really good beer at the $6 a bomber price point.

Panzuriel (1257) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - MAR 1, 2014
Bomber purchased at Giant Eagle Westerville. This is my first Deschutes brew since they released in Columbus last month. Itís a rich honey amber pour like a good bourbon or apple cider. The Hop Henge has a thick head of cream colored bubbles. The scent is medium strong IPA citrus and pine hops as one would expect. Taste is sharp and the body is lively. the flavor broadens on the swallow taking on some sweetness and an almost floral character. Mild bitters finish. An interesting IPA, not quite what youíd typically expect, but still good..

UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Pours slightly opaque, golden, finger off white thick creamy head. Aroma is resinous pine, tropical and citrus hops, bready malt, slight alcohol presence. Taste tropical, citrus, pine, bready malt, as in nose, slightly bitter, a bit sweet, huge hop presence throughout, no alcohol. Mouthfeel and carbonation are medium, balanced finish. Overall very good, not among the best double ipa?s, but better than most beers.

Sampler from bottle at 2014 Price Hill Beer Fest. Cloudy orange/yellow hue, firm bittersweet aroma with lots of citrus, creamy texture, smooth yet flavorful bittersweet flavor--citrus could be a tad more prominent but thatís a small quibble. Great brew.

Bottle. Clear gold with a 1 finger off white head. Aroma is caramel, citrus and pine. Taste follows suit with a Fruity Pebbles like sweetness. Rich syrupy mouthfeel and minimal carbonation. Excellent balance and very delicious.

Kind of hard to smell but it might just be me - a little grass and citrus. Taste is dominated by a bitter citrus flavor with some hints of biscuit and honey. Pretty good.
