Hop Henge Experimental IPA is our annual exercise in IBU escalation. An outrageous amount of Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It is dense and muscular, with a blend of crystal, pale and carastan malts creating an overall biscuity characteristic. It’s all hop, no apologies.

Pours a clear golden color with white head. Lots of pine, pine, and flowery notes on this, some bread as well. Would have preferred more citrus and less floral notes.

More, need more. The Hengiest beer I have ever had, Druids probably gooped a similar hoppy broth into them before a good ol’ sacrifice. A tawny bonny big bad Imperial with an impressive off-white head. Tropical stenches of mango and papaya prick the nostrils alongside massive dank, bitter piney hops. Some sweet caramel and bread malts glue it together so the citrus, pineapple and pine don’t go too wild. Medium carbonation with a juicy feel. I damn need a damn one right now.

Cloudy golden pour w/ a white head that leaves lacing. Aroma has a bountiful amount of hops. The taste has a nice hop presence throughout but finishes clean & w/out bitterness. Easy to drink while carrying good flavor. Overall, a delightful brew!

Aroma- Peach, tropical fruits, mango, orange, grapefruit, bubble gum, pine and caramel. Dank comes out with a swirl. Taste- I’ve been looking for one that tastes like this. Big Tropical fruit and peach up front, followed by grapefruit, orange, pine, oily resin, and rich caramel. Also a little dank and peppery, earthy character. Exceptionally balanced and flavorful. Piney grapefruit rind aftertaste.

Draft: Nearly clear, honey gold with a small, off-white head. Slightly cheesy/floral aroma...grapefruit, resin... Taste is grapefruit/orange/bread. Nicely restrained hops. Good balalnce, not too sweet or bitter. Very smooth at 10.6%.

Bottle. Pours a very slightly hazy copper color with a moderate off-white head on it. Nose is definitely hop forward, with a some floral and citrus notes, and just a touch of resin. Taste is moderately bitter, but has just a hint of bready sweetness at the end. Really a nice drink, and I’d never have guessed 10.6%.

Very hoppy and malty aroma; does not have as much pine and/or citrus scent as other DIPA’s I have tried. Clean. almost grassy smell comes through on the second whiff. Pours a bright golden color with tons of white foam that leaves heavy lacing on the glass. Tastes light, has some citrus that didn’t come out in the aroma, has the hop bitterness that I was looking for, but not overly bitter. I detected a little honey-like malt sweetness as well. Palate was slick and not overly carbonated. I have to dock the palate a point for not having that strong, long lasting aftertaste that I like in a DIPA. This was good, not great. Worth drinking, not very expensive, but surprisingly forgettable.

22oz bottle in a teku. Pours transparent copper with an off-white head. Aroma of floral and citrusy hops, pale and caramel malts, and light dough. Flavor the same with hints of spiciness but too many malts for the hops to shine through. Average texture. Not the best of the style but not bad at all.
