Crushed with Jakebra. Caramel malt and hops on the nose. A kinda funky flavor, canít put my finger on it with some hop presence, but a kick-ass finish of bittering hops comes through. Love the finish. Pretty nice brew.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2009 650 ml bottle from Freddy. Pours a translucent copper color with a big off-white head that has fair retention. The aroma is rich with citrus--lemons and grapefruit--and a bit of green hops. The flavor is biter hops forward with nutty hops, sweet caramel, grapefruit and pine. The mouthfeel is smooth and malty. The finish is medium in duration and dry. Overall: A very tasty IPA.

650 ml bottle from SBD. Pours a rich copper color with a big off-white sudsy head that has good retention. The aroma is strong with citrus(mostly grapefruit), pine and caramel. The flavor is complex with biter hops in the forefront, some robust caramel and then a good citrus blast--Ripe oranges, tangerines, lemons and grapefruit. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is exceptionally long with biter hops giving way to caramel flavors. Overall: A winner of an IIPA, highly recommended.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from South Bay Drugs. Aroma was served with a healthy and hearty smell of floral hops and bold notes of citrus. Poured a burnt orange color with signs of flakes floating about and thick foam head. The flavor is a extreme shock of bitter hops and yet also contains a raw honey taste while a bready wheat oat background finishes last.

Chestnut amber with a great, lasting head. Toasty malts with an underbelly of sweet caramel. Snappy and bold hops seemed green and organic-tasting. Also zingy, electric, citrusy and sprucy. Tasty beer.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Iím rating this as an Imperial IPA, not an IPA.
Aroma-Piney, resinous and a little citrusy, with some strawberry esters.
Appearance- Itís dark for an IIPA, the head dissipates quickly, and it is a bit cloudy when cold, possibly due to dry-hopping.
Flavor- Hops! Piney and grapefruit, with some moderate resinous flavors. Bitter taste hangs on after the beer is swallowed. The Malt background balances the hop profile, barely. There are oaky flavors that I detect. There is a definate citrus flavor which triggers the sour sensor on the side of my tongue.
Palate- Medium Body, the bitterness seems astingent, but itís just the hop bitterness. Moderate-high carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
a little fruity. has a hops EXPLOSION that comes on fast and doesnít let up. But aside from that, not much flavor or balance. Highly carbonated, brown/orange smells grapefruity and crisp. maybe tastes a little slimy. i love hops so iíll rate it well, but i wouldíve liked more body.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Intense hop complexity - monster resin and pine with a citrus component of fresh, distilled grapefruit. Very floral and aromatic. A bit of a soapy finish but rounded out with the strong caramel malt. Clean and impressive.

Rich, malty IPA with a definite, pronounced sharp , fresh hop finish. It does taste a little too fresh, the bitterness is very sharp and stings , however they are two of my favorite hop styles so the blow is lessened. A little thin too. Really nice brew overall - would be better without the edge.
Re-Rate - April 17, 2008; Purchased a bottle of the new batch. More mellow than previously. Sweet, honeysuckle upfront and a muted astringent finish. Very floral and citrusy- I get some soft pine notes as well. Slightly roasted malt - Old Rating 3.7, New Rating 3.9

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2013 Ridiculously fresh, supple, gooey, dripping, glistening pineapple and
pear flavored hop oils. Candied cherries and sugared, gummy pineapple
slices tickle the front of the tongue, while a soft oiliness and a
chewy richness of body overtakes the palate. Sharpness builds over
the middle, finishing with a snappy but rounded bite on the back of
the throat. Just an insane IPA. Everything I love in IPA - clean,
oily, extremely fresh, fullness from proper protein breakdown during
mashing. Last bottle I had was weird :/
