COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Henge Experimental IPA is our annual exercise in IBU escalation. An outrageous amount of Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It is dense and muscular, with a blend of crystal, pale and carastan malts creating an overall biscuity characteristic. Itís all hop, no apologies.

Bottle from Papago. Aroma is thick hops that avoid syrup and almost a little oak. Color is a nice amber gold with a fluffy, persistent head - looks totally refreshing. Flavor is like the aroma plus a fairly bready malt base. They say the new processes create an unexpected beer - this is not precise: the beer is outstanding and boasts that great Northwestern flavor; itís good, but not unexpected.

Bottle from Lee’s. A clean but non-unique aroma of clear water and hops. Flavor of the same, with very faint not-quite ripe orange and apple notes.

22 oz bottle courtesy of lb4lb trade. Thanks Deniz! He told me this was freshly delivered and I couldnít pass it up. Pours a fiery orange dark amber, decent haze, with fairly big offwhite bubbly head that laces well. Aromas are a nice blast of the PNW pushing good citrusy and piney hoppiness, grapefruit and florals mix well with underlying carmel malt strength. Initial is. Medium bodied, not necessarily blasting with bitterness up front, but lingering in with moderate carmel malt sweetness with hop bitterness pushing over as a wave, moving to good bitterness and pine power on the backend. Front end shows more grapefruit and citrusy notes with a touch of orange sweetness. This is really well balanced and proves you donít have to just pour in a shitload of hops and pray like hell it works out. Iíd drink this a lot if it were always fresh and available here. Cheers!

Pours a dark golden colour .. . fantastic white foam, with fantabulous lacing .. . great crisp hop bite, good bitterness also .. .has a nice backbone oddly enough, a good beat, like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS5Ny0FLwj0 ... is a great brew, but honestly, maybe lacks a bit of hop complexity, which isnít really a bad thing but .. .i am enjoying it so .,.. and, everyone in florida can fuck off..oh, and its a cheeseburger..

Bottle (batch #2, 2009). Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit, apricot), lightly yeasty (dough), with a light note of melon. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic, lightly to moderately astringent. Ordinary aroma for the style, unpleasantly sour/citric and abrasive in the mouth. Not a particularly notable example.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain/bread), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough, sweat), with a light note of plastic/solvent. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter, slightly unclean. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Dull at best. Off aromas and an unclean aftertaste make this unquestionably below average.

Courtesy hopscotch. Pours a glowing crystal copper color, with a frothy white head. Very nice hoppy nose, lots of big grapefruit citrus as well, with a minimal malt presence. The flavor is pretty crisp right away, the hop bitterness is pungent throughout. The caramel malt seems to show up more in the finish to balance it out nicely. Pretty big flavor profile with a nice hop bite. Very tasty double IPA.

Pours a gorgeouse clear caramel amber color, with a medium, frothy off white head. Smells of musty over the top hops and mild citrus. Hints of spice are evident as well. The flavor is actually much bigger in its malt character, but really too much bitterness and not enough balance. The hops were overly abundant. Reallyjust too much, and not very crisp. Just a bitter mess in my opinion. Kind of disappointed.

Thanks fishingnet for the share. Pours orange gold with a white head. Nose is malt, tart lemon, caramel, and some pine resin. Flavor is malt, citrus, sugary lemon, and some sweet citrus notes in the finish. Medium-bodied and a malty-citrusy finish. Enjoyable IIPA.

22oz bottle. Dark amber with an off-white head. Big hops in the aroma, but on the dull and nondescript side with a subtle mango note. Lean but substantial malt with some biscuit and light caramel. Big hops with a dark woody and fruity quality, ending with a bitterness that overpowers the malt. Medium bodied with tight carbonation. A tricky IIPA to figure out. Nothing really jumps out at you but it makes for a nice drinker nonetheless.

courtesy of fishingnet. pours copper, white head. Aroma is hoppy, floral and citrus Taste is just similar, floral hops with a bitter finish and citrus. Good DIPA, a little more on the hoppy side than I am used to.

Courtesy of Gunhaver. The beer’s ABV was 8.75% Color is copper with a white head. Aroma is quite hoppy and with the yeast, make it very bitter, some caramel malt, but it does not seem to balance the bitter taste. Noted a slight touch of raisin.

22 oz. bottle served in tulip- poured darkened amber with brown (think of unfiltered freshly pressed apple cider) color, low if any carbonation, white ring around the glass. Aroma of caramel, some candi sugar, hops, malt... all the good things in life. Hits the mouth with a high-medium body, malt has a pleasant sweetness intertwined with it and it all holds up swimmingly to the finish. The middle of the tasting displays the hops coming out of the woodwork- finish is slightly acidic and still has plenty of hop bite after the last swallow enters your gullet. Wave that finger because this one is a HOME RUN!!!

Bottled. Pours beautifully orange with lovely white head. Aroma has a lot of aromatic hops, fruits, peach and grapefruit, but most of all a nice amount of bitter, piny hops. Presence of hops is immense and intense, though I kind of get the feeling that it sort of rolls over all the slight nuances rendering the beer pretty simple, though tasteful. Anyways, I love that powerful bite of bitter, piney hops that this beer gives on the palate. Overall pretty solid beer.
