Commercial Description:
Our latest Bond Street Series brew, Hop Henge, got bumped up to Imperial status this year. With a few more IBU’s than last year’s version, this IPA has a monumental amount of hops coming in just under the century mark for IBU’s. Two and one half pounds of Centennial, Cascade, and Northern Brewer hops are added, per beer barrel, and another half pound is used in the dry hopping process giving Hop Henge a whopping 95 IBU rate. A hearty malt bill, consisting of Crystal, Pale and Carastan malts, creates a biscuity note while building a dense base supporting the mammoth hop presence.

Amber colored with a white head that had decent retention. Some sulfur in the aroma and floral; hops were a bit catty. Watery, but sweet malt eventually comes in, as well as sap, lemon, and some grainy flavors. Body and carbonation are medium.

22oz bottle from S.B. Liquor. Pours a nice burnt orange amber with a fairly thin off white head. Nose started off with good amounts of pine and citrus, then disappeared quite quickly. Flavor was a little off, had kind of a mineraly finish. Not overly impressed with this beer.

[Burger Bar, Mandalay Bay] Poured a copper color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, pine, floral hops, and a bit of citrus. Taste was also piney, with some sweet caramel malts, light toast, cereal grains, citrus, and a bit of alcohol.

Bomber. Pours a clear amber with minimal head. Nose is malt, mild citrus and pine. Palate is sweet malt upfront, with a bitter resin bite at the end. Citrus is overpowered by both. Medium mouth feel with light lacing. Unbalanced brew and not what I have experienced with other IIPAs.

bottle from southbay. Not impressed with this one. No hop aroma. Flavor is like a muted fresh hop pa. Drain pour.

Deep copper with hints of ruby in its color. First aroma is cider. Smelled very sweet - first taste was radically different. Deep and full bitter with some sweetness on the edge where bitterness meets it on your tongue. This is what a solid IIPA should be. Definitely more double than Imperial - there isn’t much in the way of florals. But that’s OK - as a solid IIPA this stacks up better.

Pours a deep copper color with a rich white head that has good retention. Aroma is subtly floral and very sweet. Flavor starts out quite sweet but quickly yields up an aggressive but not at all astringent hop bitterness. On the palate it’s full bodied and warm with respectable carbonation that doesn’t get in the way. Overall an excellent offering, if not perhaps as sublime as Rogue’s IIPA.

Bomber. 07 and 08’s versions have both been tasty morsels. Lots of bitter and more mild hop flavors running all over a fairly carbonated and rich malty body. Lovely golden color, frothy white head, this is a IIPA that is more balanced and regularly drinkable (if it was regularly available!). Great brew from Deschutes!
