Commercial Description:
Our latest Bond Street Series brew, Hop Henge, got bumped up to Imperial status this year. With a few more IBU’s than last year’s version, this IPA has a monumental amount of hops coming in just under the century mark for IBU’s. Two and one half pounds of Centennial, Cascade, and Northern Brewer hops are added, per beer barrel, and another half pound is used in the dry hopping process giving Hop Henge a whopping 95 IBU rate. A hearty malt bill, consisting of Crystal, Pale and Carastan malts, creates a biscuity note while building a dense base supporting the mammoth hop presence.

Sampled on tap at the Truckee Brew and Blues festival, August 2007. Deep roasty grains aroma, dough; somewhat herbal-infused orangey hops aroma. A little raw and worty. Very hoppy, bittter flavor, quite sweet and chock-full of crystal malts. Hops flavor actually a little lacking, or at least hiding behind the bitterness and overabundance of toffee notes from the crystal malt. Less crystal malts and more attenuation would push this closer to being a winner.

Medium sized offwhite head, retention is good as is the lace. Amber brown in color. Nose is nice, pine, leafy with a bit of toasty malts residing. Body is med/full with a nice oilyness, soft and sorta creamy on the palate. Good malt to hop balance, pine, citrus grainy, caramelly malts and a little earthy. Finish is almost dry with a good hop biterness. Not yer basic IIPA but more like a good ASA. A little more finesse involved here. Thanks go out to SDbruboy for this bomber. Thanks again Cliff!

22 oz. bottle from kenb. Thanks Ken. Pours a hazy amber color with a creamy beige head that disappears into a small ring around the glass. The aroma is all about the hops. Fresh floral, grassy, piney, with light citrus are present. There is a hint of malt as well. The flavor is pretty well balanced considering the aroma. The sweet toffee malt balances the hops (light citrus, pine, floral)in this one nicely. The mouthfeel is medium-full. I enjoyed this on alot.

Courtesy of After4ever/Tom - thank you for this nice beer. It’s dark amber with a creamy, huge head and the aroma has loads of citrus, pine, mango and caramel. The flavour is nice with notes of slightly sweet citrus-fruits, mango, pine and a grape-like bitterness wrapped in smooth caramel - nice!! 2367

Bottle: Bronze color, light head and lacing. Nose of grass, a touch of pine and loads of grapefruit, nice and fresh, toasty. The flavor is bitter and resinous, tons of apricots and dry malt sweetness. Nice, I like this better than the regular hop henge.

Medium-sized, frothy white head, very good retention, spectacular lacing. Notes of resiny and floral hops bring in the aroma. The hop profile seems wet-hopped, and is so exquisitely fresh! Toasted grains are very earthy and fresh. Scents of fresh flowers, tea leaves, caramel, sweetened grapefruit, mandarin orange, mango, pine needles, the list expands with every whiff. Wonderful, soft and very engaging nose. The flavor is soft but bold. Light to moderate bitterness from the hops is quickly extinguished by floral tones and medium sweetness from malts. Acidity is tame but generous enough to dice right back through the sweetness and keep the flavor on a somewhat even keel. I just can’t get over how fresh it tastes. Additions of tangerine, melon and chamomile make the scene. the finish is soft, lightly bitter, mildly toasty, with mellow caramel and floral hops lingering, with a bit of citric acid. the mouthfeel is well carbonated, medium in body, very likeable. A fine beer, so refreshing and so utterly fresh tasting. this was a nice change of pace from the typical palate-crushing, intensely bitter double IPA’s that seem the standard on the west coast.
