Aroma is hoppy, cinnamon, light malts. Juicy hop flavor is subdued by a delicate balance of pale malts. This escapes the typical boring amber background of far too many IIPAs. No caramel to be found... woohoo! A very well made beer. drewbeerme (2272), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 25, 2007 22oz, a few months old. pours dense cloudy golden-amber with big off-white head. nose has that classic PNW fruity aroma but it isn’t that big or overwhelming like a double ipa should be. flavor is orangey, grapefruit hops. this beer is pretty bitter but lacks a bigger malt backbone to sustain the bitterness. alcohol is noticed as well. the finish is pretty raw, bitter, and with slow alcohol burn. too hop sided and needs more caramel malts. is this really only 8.1%abv? ratman197 (3189), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Aromas of carmel, pine and light citrus. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, pine and a hint of grapefruit rind with a lingering bitter finish. toncatcher (228), Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Draft at T.S. McHugh’s. Nice with the dingle pie and clam chowder. Hazy copper with moussy bergs of white fluff atop. Acres of sticky lace all the way down. Some sweet biscuit and trace hints of loamy earth on the nose. Both drowned by the tangy bitter resin and pine scents. Nothing too fancy for a DIPA. Nice mix of biscuit and pine on the mid-palate, decent body, and a longish bitter resin finish. Not really an i2pa. More of an i.5pa. Gladly drink it again tomorrow, or never, doesn’t really matter which. billk (300), Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Apr 20, 2007 Updated: Apr 22, 2007Tap at Capone’s. Somewhat dark amber with o/w head that dissapated quickly. This was very dissapointing. A clash of quite sweet, minimal flavor malt with very abrupt, harsh bittering hops. The two didn’t go together at all. No pleasant flavors of malt or hops here. Alcohol was noticable as well. Quite shitty. F U Deschutes. I was very reluctant to try your Hop Henge, now I won’t touch any of your offerings again. BrewDad (2366), Olympia, Washington, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 14, 2007 Draft: Pours a deep orange/red with a nice finger and a half white head. Strong citrusy hop and some honey malts underneath. Flavor has tons of hop citrusyness of orange and grapefruit. Nice sweet maltyness underneath. The bitterness lingers on your tongue.
