Commercial Description:
Our latest Bond Street Series brew, Hop Henge, got bumped up to Imperial status this year. With a few more IBU’s than last year’s version, this IPA has a monumental amount of hops coming in just under the century mark for IBU’s. Two and one half pounds of Centennial, Cascade, and Northern Brewer hops are added, per beer barrel, and another half pound is used in the dry hopping process giving Hop Henge a whopping 95 IBU rate. A hearty malt bill, consisting of Crystal, Pale and Carastan malts, creates a biscuity note while building a dense base supporting the mammoth hop presence.

Pours a rather dark amber color. Nice, fluffy head diminishes, but leaves a nice trail all the way up the glass. Nose is some light malt, fruit, and some grapefruit. The body is thick, creamy toffee malt with layers of hops. A nice, grapefruit bite lingers, with some alcohol warming and a sweet finish. Middle of the pack for an Imperial IPA, which of course makes it quite good.

Delicious beer. Reminded me somewhat of Dogfish 90. However, Hop Henge is much smoother. Alcohol warmth without bite.

22 oz bottle shared with padrefan98. Lots of fruity hop aromas off this golden orange pour. Nice fluffy head too. Aromas were apricot/mango/citrus. Some floral notes as well. Flavor was about the same with a nice bitterness coming in with grapefruit and orange. Pretty good stuff.

Thanks to Tomdecapolis for sharing this... Appears a hazed light gold with a small, creamy cap that fades into a mild film with a small collar of fluff. Streaky remnants and spots are left around the glass. Smell is decent enough...containing notes of citrus, herbs, light pine, caramel, and candy. Taste is overly bitter and mouth puckering with absolutely zero balance going on here with the absence of a malt backbone. Lots of yeast and hops highlight with citrus and herbs standing out. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, yeasty, gritty, lip smacking of bitterness.

22oz bottle share courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a medium amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of orange peels, some caramel, citrus, and a little earthy. Tastes of citrus, pine, and caramel. Medium bitter with only a trace of a malt balance. Struck me to be more of an IPA vs. an IIPA.

Thanks to kenb for the trade. Pours a translucent ruby orange amber with a smaller off white creamy head that left some light lacing. Aroma of caramel, sweet maltiness, orange, lots of pine and some grapefruit. Flavor of bitter grapefruit, pine, some yeast, toasted malts, caramel. Bitterness was up front, followed by hints of sweetness and then more bitterness that lingered. A bit on the thin side...would like some more body for this DIPA.

Deschutes is one of my favourite US breweries as you are assured of a clean high-quality brew evrey time. Their bombers are treat for after work! This is a good shot at an IIPA - far from the most insane i’ve tasted but that’s a good thing in some respects. Not overly sweet or sickly as they can be. Raisin, and sticky malts in the aroma. Initial bitterness gives way to orange fruit and alcohol. Astringent finish. Nice.
