Commercial Description:
Our latest Bond Street Series brew, Hop Henge, got bumped up to Imperial status this year. With a few more IBU’s than last year’s version, this IPA has a monumental amount of hops coming in just under the century mark for IBU’s. Two and one half pounds of Centennial, Cascade, and Northern Brewer hops are added, per beer barrel, and another half pound is used in the dry hopping process giving Hop Henge a whopping 95 IBU rate. A hearty malt bill, consisting of Crystal, Pale and Carastan malts, creates a biscuity note while building a dense base supporting the mammoth hop presence.

On tap; I originally rated this under the Experimental IPA like an idiot. Poured a nice rich auburn/amber. Aroma of flowers, caramel, citrus, with some mesquite like wood elements. Very boisterous nose. However, flavor was more balanced than I would have expected. Still the hops were very nice with citrus, flowers and some woody/mesquite like flavors. Very nice beer.

Draught at Najas Place. Pours clear amber with a small, white head, diminishing with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, bread), heavy hop (flowers, perfume, pine), average yeast (dough) with notes of oak, vanilla, and brown sugar. Medium bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average bodied, moderate sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Bottled. Pours beautifully orange with lovely white head. Aroma has a lot of aromatic hops, fruits, peach and grapefruit, but most of all a nice amount of bitter, piny hops. Presence of hops is immense and intense, though I kind of get the feeling that it sort of rolls over all the slight nuances rendering the beer pretty simple, though tasteful. Anyways, I love that powerful bite of bitter, piney hops that this beer gives on the palate. Overall pretty solid beer.

Bottle from the Otown throwdown. Pours an amber color with a very nice whitish head. Aroma is full of grapefruit peel, christmas tree and some sweet malt. Flavor carries through from the aroma. Hoppy and malty and delicious!

On tap at Empire Ale House. Poured nice dark amber, almost orange with a great head on it. Aroma was pine resin-ey and malty. smelled great. Nice malt backbone but there was a flavor I can only explain as over-the-top minty. Like I just ate an Altoid and drank a pint. Made me not want to finish the pint. Nice warming alcohol and nice and strong! Don’t know if I could make myself buy a pint of this again. That minty flavor was simply overpowering.

Bright orange pour with a huge white head and nice lacing. Big aroma of grapefruit and other citrus and a nice big taste of citrus and roasted malts with a huge hop presence. Really damn tasty this one.
