Commercial Description:
Our latest Bond Street Series brew, Hop Henge, got bumped up to Imperial status this year. With a few more IBU’s than last year’s version, this IPA has a monumental amount of hops coming in just under the century mark for IBU’s. Two and one half pounds of Centennial, Cascade, and Northern Brewer hops are added, per beer barrel, and another half pound is used in the dry hopping process giving Hop Henge a whopping 95 IBU rate. A hearty malt bill, consisting of Crystal, Pale and Carastan malts, creates a biscuity note while building a dense base supporting the mammoth hop presence.

Sampled both on top and subsequently from the bottle in Eugene, OR--rating is from the bottle. Medium-dark orange-amber color with a thin, fine, light tan head. Aroma of light lemony hops with subtle banana and spice with bottom notes of caramelized orange. Flavor consists of some grainy maltiness with dark, dense hop bitterness, and a little spiciness anlong with alcohol. Quite subdued and not at all what I was expecting froma double IPA from Deschutes. The body is slightly out of balance in terms of malt, alcohol, and hops dimensions. Somewhat underwhelming.

Bottle. Pours a clean copper bronze, with a filmy white lacing and frothy white head. Big hops in the nose, some spices, vanilla, pine. Creamy. Big balance of hops and malts in the flavor. Spicy, vanilla flavors. Brown sugar. Definitely heavy on the malts, but still balanced. Full-bodied and very drinkable.

I had a bomber the other night and lost my tasting notes, I do remember enjoying it but not being blown away

Bomber courtesy of SuzyGreenberg. Pours a dark reddish-orange with a thin, creamy, off-white head. On the nose is sweet caramel malt behind piny and lightly citric hops. Medium to full-bodied and creamy-slick with a dry and slightly resinous finish. Effervescent caramel malt, piny and lightly citric hops (following the nose) it concludes with a dry tongue-squeezing finish. While the flavor profile doesn’t blow me away, this is an exceptionally drinkable IIPA. Thanks for sending me the bottle, Ben!

A very good IPA. Not the best for the money though. Solid beer and yet another win for Deschutes.

22oz bottle brought by Gregis. Aroma is dripping with hops, piney & herbal hops. Very intense. Taste is herbal hops with a touch of citrus and pine with a bit of sweet malt underneath.

~Pours a beautiful light orange color with big foamy off white orangish head. The color almost looks like white zinfandel when held to light. ~Nice fresh hop scent. Grapefruity and floral with some sweetness. ~Taste has a nice sweetness followed by some strong hoppiness. ~Medium feel, sticky, very bitter finish. ~I really love high hop beers and this is a great one, but I actually think it would be better if they toned the hops down just a little bit. I enjoyed the sweetness and I don’t normally like real sweet beers.

Pours a deep amber with a medium foamy head that lasts. Aroma of caramel malt and citrusy hops. Flavor is nice, starting a bit sweet and turning bitter on the finish. Lots of grapefruit/citrus. Not nearly as aggresive or hoppy as many DIPA’s. Definately an above average brew.
