CaptainCougar (4625), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 5, 2007 Bottle sampled on 2/26/07: Pours a clear dark golden bronze with a thin coating of spotty white head. Aroma of sweet toffee caramel and lots of fresh piny hops. Body starts with good caramel malty viscosity, a touch of fruity sugar complexity and lots of piny grapefruity bittering hops with a slightly-warming finish. Fairly well-balanced, a pretty standard imperial IPA. hopdog (4526), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2007 22oz bottle share courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a medium amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of orange peels, some caramel, citrus, and a little earthy. Tastes of citrus, pine, and caramel. Medium bitter with only a trace of a malt balance. Struck me to be more of an IPA vs. an IIPA. BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 15, 2007 Bottle: Bronze color, light head and lacing. Nose of grass, a touch of pine and loads of grapefruit, nice and fresh, toasty. The flavor is bitter and resinous, tons of apricots and dry malt sweetness. Nice, I like this better than the regular hop henge. hopscotch (4433), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 7, 2007 Bottle...O-Town Throwdown... Clear amber ale with a mid-sized, frothy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The aroma delivers notes of black tea, caramel, cotton candy, tropical fruit and mild grapefruit. The flavor is sweet toffee balanced decently by bitter notes of black tea and grapefruit rind. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Lengthy, bittersweet finish. Thanks to Crosling for sending the bottle our way!
