GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Mar 5, 2007 Updated: May 19, 2008A cold slow pour releases a full blown creamy frothy that slowly recedes revealing clumpy islands of cream that hang the duration. Hugh Jackman shows off a brilliant iridescent golden amber color. Mild aromas of aged citrus, fat juicy hop pollups, and candy necklace. Full nectar w/ superb carbontion for a creamy texture. Beautiful! Fat malt decadence with a subtle candy sweetness that is deminished just as fast by a powerful hop bittering component. Luscious caramel meets the perfect hop balance w/ aged citrus rind. Nunces of leather, bright hard candy necklace, mild herbs. The finishing bitterness sticks w/ the user w/ lating aspirin burn sensation. Trump! kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Oct 2, 2008 So I might have to rethink what an IIPA looks like...this brew its probably the best looking beer I’ve ever seen (the liquid part that is, the head is good but is a yellowish color and just doesn’t look as pure, but since the liquid looks so amazing, its a 5). Perfectly clear golden amber. First initial smell was banana, citrus hops and slightly malty...2nd and 3rd smells I can’t smell the banana anymore. Flavor is hops of citrus and earth, malts of bread, caramel and spiciness. Very clean tasting brew that has a slight bitterness and a warm mouth feel. I really could drink this all day and night. tuohyam (14), Enumclaw, Washington, USA Jul 13, 2008 A very good IPA. Not the best for the money though. Solid beer and yet another win for Deschutes. CAmes (32), Snohomish, Washington, USA Apr 11, 2007 Delicious beer. Reminded me somewhat of Dogfish 90. However, Hop Henge is much smoother. Alcohol warmth without bite. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA May 13, 2007 Creamy and hoppy aroma. The flavor has a great hop bite. Really sustains with a nice hoppy flavor. My kind of beer. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 25, 2007 Off the hinges with hops with a well constructed malt backbone. Quite acclamatory has this beer been on a regular basis. Easily represented is the 95 IBU claim of this symbolic NW IPA. Taverner (825), San Ramon, California, USA May 23, 2008 Deep copper with hints of ruby in its color. First aroma is cider. Smelled very sweet - first taste was radically different. Deep and full bitter with some sweetness on the edge where bitterness meets it on your tongue. This is what a solid IIPA should be. Definitely more double than Imperial - there isn’t much in the way of florals. But that’s OK - as a solid IIPA this stacks up better. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 13, 2008 Clear, dark crimson coloring, big, creamy slab of froth atop, lace leaving.
Intense hop aroma, big pine & grapefruit, & more fruit. Twist of orange, slice of lime, ...bitter, but lovely.
Drinkin’...plump flavor, but surprisingly easy drinking and smooth, though the hop bitterness rises up again. Big blast of hops with each sip, mellow malt below, nice and toasty. Hop bitterness shines above it all, and delights even the most hardened hophead.
Nice one. Maintains a bitter hop edge, but cool, calm, & collected. Delicious.
