Commercial Description:
Our latest Bond Street Series brew, Hop Henge, got bumped up to Imperial status this year. With a few more IBU’s than last year’s version, this IPA has a monumental amount of hops coming in just under the century mark for IBU’s. Two and one half pounds of Centennial, Cascade, and Northern Brewer hops are added, per beer barrel, and another half pound is used in the dry hopping process giving Hop Henge a whopping 95 IBU rate. A hearty malt bill, consisting of Crystal, Pale and Carastan malts, creates a biscuity note while building a dense base supporting the mammoth hop presence.

22 oz. bottle. A very good Imp IPA. Has a moderate to light hop nose. Pours a beautiful golden amber color with a white head that dissapates moderately. No carbonation bubbles. Mostly clear but not totally clear. Flavor is multi layered. Good and strong. Finishes well.....clean....not bitter. Bottle art is superb!

22 oz bottle from Beverages 4 Less. Burnt orange-amber with a big fluffy head. Nose is perfect IIPA. Hoppy, piny, sweet citrus. Flavor is sweet and hoppy. Grapefruit and pineapple. Some creamy smoothness too. Yummy.

Bright orange pour with a huge white head and nice lacing. Big aroma of grapefruit and other citrus and a nice big taste of citrus and roasted malts with a huge hop presence. Really damn tasty this one.

On draft at Newport Pizza and Ale. Pours a nice deep amber color with a medium white head that sticks around for a little while. Smells of pine and flowers. Taste has more citrus flavor to it than the smell but it is still dominated by the pine and flower tastes. The aftertaste starts off as a sharp hoppy flavor but eventually gives way to a malty smoothness, which is the only time that malts are really apparent in this beer. A nice offering from deschutes, and a beer I will certainly go back to.

Bottle from the Otown throwdown. Pours an amber color with a very nice whitish head. Aroma is full of grapefruit peel, christmas tree and some sweet malt. Flavor carries through from the aroma. Hoppy and malty and delicious!

Bottled. Very nice golden caramel colour with a medium white head and sticky lacing. Very floral hop aroma, nice and not overwhelming. Surprisingly balanced flavour. The hops do not overpower the smooth malt. Very nice to drink and tough to believe the 95 IBU’s. I imagine this recipe will get better in time, but it’s good right now.

Bottle. Pours slightly cloudy golden orange. Small white head that disipates quickily. Small bits of foam are left around the edges of the glass. Smell is of strong citrus and floral hops. Lots and lots of hops in the aroma. Taste is somewhat astringent and very bitter. Finish is bitter enough to make your mouth pucker. As the brew warms the malt character shows through more and more, balancing the hoppy bitterness. When warmed to room temperature it is a bit sweeter than I expected and very enjoyable. Good medium creamy mouth feel.

22 oz. bottle - inch head quickly fades; amber in color and relatively clear; bread-like aroma more more obvious than citrus; malty flavors that are smoother than expected; overall impression is that of a strong IPA or a weak IIPA...either way, it’s tasty :)
