Commercial Description:
Our latest Bond Street Series brew, Hop Henge, got bumped up to Imperial status this year. With a few more IBU’s than last year’s version, this IPA has a monumental amount of hops coming in just under the century mark for IBU’s. Two and one half pounds of Centennial, Cascade, and Northern Brewer hops are added, per beer barrel, and another half pound is used in the dry hopping process giving Hop Henge a whopping 95 IBU rate. A hearty malt bill, consisting of Crystal, Pale and Carastan malts, creates a biscuity note while building a dense base supporting the mammoth hop presence.

Bottle. Poured a deep amber color with a thick off-white head that left decent lacing. Aroma of nice citrus (grapefruit, light mango, and orange) resiny hops, and light pine. Flavor consists of a light caramel entry that moves quickly into a strong citrus (grapefruit, orange, mango, light apricot) hit with some nice resiny hops and bitter pine on the finish. Full on the palate, nice carbonation. Better than expected.

Nice big C-hop IIPA that doesn’t wear its IIPA nature on its sleeve, not too sweet, even thought the crystal malt backbone is right there and substantial. Nothing exceptional here, perhaps -- not even the magic of its earlier predecessor -- but very easy to drink and enjoy.

Pours a nice copper-amber color with a medium off-white head and moderate lacing. As expected, lots of hops in the nose. Nice complex flavor with some citrus and more malt than I would have expected from the style. Medium bodied with a dry finish. I not usually a big IPA fan, but I really enjoyed this beer.

Pours a gorgeouse clear caramel amber color, with a medium, frothy off white head. Smells of musty over the top hops and mild citrus. Hints of spice are evident as well. The flavor is actually much bigger in its malt character, but really too much bitterness and not enough balance. The hops were overly abundant. Reallyjust too much, and not very crisp. Just a bitter mess in my opinion. Kind of disappointed.

Pours a dark copper in color. Slight hoppy smell in the nose. This has a huge malt backbone to support the hops. Quite possibly the maltiest IIPA that I’ve had. Very bready and bittering in the flavor. Decent, but I prefer more Citrusy and juicy flavors.
