Commercial Description:
Who knows what inspired the ancients to build Stonehenge--or what inspired us to build Hop Henge in its likeness. But build it we did, out of wrapped bales of whole-flower hops out on the brewery lawn. Like the rest of the Bond Street Series, Hop Henge highlights the creativity and curiousity of our brewers. Bolder than its English ancestors, with huge hops and a bitter finish, this IPA is no wallflower.

NOTE: This is the original version. In 2007 it was bumped up to an IIPA. See that entry here.

Had this beer on 2/13/2006. Aroma is very hoppy, its just full of a fresh hop scent. Color is a hazy light brown. Taste is hoppy and citrusy. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down crisp. Finish comes on with a strong hop flavor and a citrus like taste that is way too strong. On the end is a full bitterness. Overall I feel this is just too hoppy.

Pours hazy golden to brongze color with light tan head that retains relatively well. Nose is grapefruity, perhaps some miscellaneous citrus. Huge hops but also large malt component in the flavor profile. Less hoppy and candied with age (11 months on my bottles). It’s coming around to an almost barleywine like character. Rather easy drinking for a DIPA.

This may be retired, but I picked up this bottle in Bend, Oregon a couple weeks ago. It poured a really attractive orange with a big white head and thick lacing rings. Nose of caramel malts with lots of various hops including floral, pine, and citrus that assault your nose. Great creamy and oily mouthfeel. Flavor is actually not a powerful as the nose but is very nicely bitter and the finish is the same. A simply fantastic beer.

Beautiful orange pour with a great white head and nice brussels lace lingering. Excellent mesh of multiple hop flavors: pine, grapefruit, some floral and a mild but nice toffee malt backbone. Extremely tasty, as is the IIPA version.

This is one smashingly awesome ipa. BrianK thank you my man. Awesome bottle art would have looked great next to my pp high tide. A beautiful orange pale body with a rocky white head. Fresh hops swirl in a piney, citrus, floral, grapefruit of an ester-storm on your taste buds. A remarkable mellow ethanol breathes through the citrus notes and gently expressed throughout the lightly acidic grapefruit. This is awesome!

Shared with Steve, CelticBrew and the Baron of Beer, DrBayern. Poured with a great head, nice lace on the glass. It was a clean light copper color. The mouthfeel was just right. IT had a good bittering of hops on the finish.

One of my favorite beer labels so far. Bottle: Pours a luminous orange with thick and frothy white head. Earthy, fresh-squeezed hop bouquet with toffee undertones. Stinging bitterness on the palate, but finishes with some caramel malt. Overall, extremely hopped.

On draft at Newport Pizza and Ale house. Pours a deep orangy hue with a powerful citrus hop nose. The taste was very hop forward with pineyness, hops, and grapefruit throughout. The end is crisp and smooth, this was a very good IPA, sorry to see it retired~
