Commercial Description:
Who knows what inspired the ancients to build Stonehenge--or what inspired us to build Hop Henge in its likeness. But build it we did, out of wrapped bales of whole-flower hops out on the brewery lawn. Like the rest of the Bond Street Series, Hop Henge highlights the creativity and curiousity of our brewers. Bolder than its English ancestors, with huge hops and a bitter finish, this IPA is no wallflower.

NOTE: This is the original version. In 2007 it was bumped up to an IIPA. See that entry here.

Bottled. Pours an almost ruby shade of copper with a billowy white head. Sweet hoppy aroma with pine, orange and floral notes. Very nicely balanced IPA with a good maltiness backing a very nice hop bitterness. Flavor has notes of orange, apricot, grass and pine. Very clean tasting. This is a great IPA.

Riveting, bright amber-auburn-peach, with a huge, creamy, beige head. Sticks to the glass in huge clumps. Very well retained. Light haziness to the beer as well, with tiny bubbles working their way to the surface.
Toasty, hoppy and full of light, fresh yeast at first. Sourish peaches and a very hefty citrus and floral hop profile. Perfuminess and a dry, tangy hoppiness (guess that was the sourish peaches I just mentioned) with ilght pine resin on the very end. The bitterness really works its way in quickly and sets up. Toasty, lightly acidic munich and sweet caramunich malts (or just plain caramel/crystal malt) provide light breadiness as well.
Very first sip is very spicy and flowery, with a dash of citrus zest to liven things up even more. Caramel gets a bit heavy through the middle, seemingly dulling (or balancing?) the hoppiness up front, but light cherries, apples and the finishing pine help clear it. Very low, bottle conditioned, carbonation. Apricots and nectarines, with plenty of dry fruit skins mixing with warming alcohol (not harsh) overcompensates on the end, for the sweet middle of the beer. Soft, gentle, spacious mouthfeel. Creamy, borderline syrupy as well.

Wonderful floral arome, head quickly went away showing a hazy orange hue. Nice malty initial flavor with a fruity overtone. Not as hoppy as I would have expected, but nice just the same. The mild hop flavor lasts well after swallowing - a nice beer.

22-oz. bottle. Pours coppery bronze with a tall rocky light tan head. Aroma is hoppy, hugely (pine, spruce) with a fragrant floral nose. Heavy bitterness greets your palate, grapefruit rind and moderate acidity, no sweetness, just sour hop; hop juice. Medium bodied and slightly fizzy and smooth palate.

22 oz bottle. Brown/amber in color with a tan head. Aroma is perfect for the style, citrus, grapefruit zest and tangerine. Nice cascades do not totally dominate but are right up front.
